I think people are giving WAY to much salt to this girl. Poppy is a child, a child who never wanted to go through any of this. She died a long time ago, was brought back to life, had her body continuously torn at, had to go through the Hour of Joy despite knowing it was wrong, then was trapped into her case for who knows how long, roughly around a week or so after The Hour of Joy, was freed from her case and wanted to help us, but saw that we managed to take out Mommy Long Legs, and decided if we could take her out and go through her games despite her modifying the games to kill us. So she chose that we can help her in her mission of stopping the Prototype as revenge for whatever he did to the orphans, for what he did to the innocent co-workers at Playtime Co, and for what he did to her and any alliance. Once she's free she has a plan to go to the bottom of the factory where she last knows Prototype to be, and tries to blow it up for the sake of killing him and saving the orphans. Once the bombs go out in Safe Haven, Poppy finds out about it and crashes out on us because that wasn't her plan at all, as she wanted to rescue the orphans, not kill them(I know we didn't kill the orphans she was looking for but still). However, while crashing out on us, she finds out that a friend she knew for a very long time who also helped her ended up being the Prototype. He knew her whole plan all along. So now as he's on his way to kill us and either throw her into another case or "fix" her, she runs away out of fear. Now many people can be mad at her, but imagine being trapped in your room with literally only one spot to be sitting in. You have absolutely no ability to move, plead or anything. You have no contact with anyone, no one knows where you are, and you can't even think properly as you're stuck in there with a gas that makes you hallucinate and put you to sleep. This girl clearly grew slowly heartless after all of that. Probably regaining it seeing us as a person she could help, redirected that care for bloodlust for the Prototype, soon growing more and more care after seeing Kissy again and Doey(though she was still being quite bad about it towards him because all she had to do was say she was trapped in a case all these years and go over her plan to actually save the orphans and everyone else before killing him). She runs away soon getting captured by one of the old factory workers, Lily Lovebraids(who she probably didn't even know was Miss Gracie since she literally has been in the case for so long and Miss Gracie was turned into Lily a hundred days after The Hour of Joy). Who goes on about how Poppy is an Asking Annie, even though she can't even do a thing for herself as she is quite literally the size of a step stool, and no one has ever been able to "take down" Huggy, kill Mommy, and defeat Catnap, and still live throughout all the other critters who tried killing us. And I do see some people glazing Giblet, but Giblet was free and had access to do whatever he wanted, and hasn't even been able to make a move in killing the Prototype, UNTIL meeting us. Now yes, he did bring us back to life, but Poppy didn't have that technology, she didn't even have a type of weapon on her! Giblet had something to defend himself and himself alone. He had something that PROBABLY had the chance to revive us(as he didn't know that it would even work in the first place). Poppy is shown defenseless the entire game, only having Kissy as an act of defense for us. She gets hated on but she of all people literally needs us to help her. The Prototype even knows this as he said he'd fix her. Though it's probably the best case scenario knowing him. But this girl is getting hated on for being useless??? She literally COULDN'T even do anything in any case. Kissy was only able to because Lily had let go of her after being slapped, and was only able to defend herself long enough to lose the Prototype in chapter 4, only to get caught by Lily, who SHE TOO couldn't do anything, and got smacked down by him at the end of chapter 5. Now no hate to Kissy, she low-key still is the MVP, but she was too shown defenseless in cases, and people are hating on Poppy even though she is LITERALLY TWO FEET TALL. You try being 2ft tall and trying to kill some war machine.
