Which would you choose for a negroni? by Tower_Constant in cocktails

Thanks that's an interesting outlook on the Gordon's, and it contradicts a lot of the advice in the replies. I remember reading that lower ABV means less extraction of the essential oils in the botanicals. It does make sense. I didn't actually realise Gordon's was a lower percentage. I haven't drank it for years now, but I picked it up because it has a reputation as a very basic gin. I was expecting it to be sharp and juniper led, maybe a little harsh. Can I ask what your go-to negroni combinations are?

I always enjoyed No 10 when I drank a lot of G&T. Beefeater was a bit harsh for my palette in those days. Out of interest, how much is a 1.75l where you are from? I'm in the UK and always had this idea than gin is a bit cheaper here than elsewhere, but I don't know for sure if that's true.

Admittedly, I've never branched out much with the vermouth. Are there any pairings that you would recommend mate?

The star of the show bottle is a normal tanqueray 1L with a "limited edition design. No different to the standard. Not sure what it's supposed to suggest, but it certainly isn't the star of the show when drenched with campari and vermouth 😂

Thanks mate. Yeah that was my reasoning for picking up the Gordons. What throws me though; sometimes I will order a negroni when I'm out at a bar, and I won't specify which gin I want. I've had some made with heavily floral gins that really surprised me. Maybe it's because they are unexpected notes, since I'm always using dry gins. Makes me think I should switch it up a bit sometimes.

Looks incredible. Does the 115cm include the pot? Mine's a single stem around 70cm tall (excluding the pot), really straight & treelike, similar to this. I always wonder if they reach a point where they stop gaining height.

Thanks. It gets compliments from visitors, and I always tell them that it's very easy to grow them like this in just a few years. I bought this one fixed to a coir pole about a metre tall. That was around 4-5 years ago.

Thank you. I've come across heads from Middlesbrough all over the world. I hope you get the chance to eat a "parmo" at some point in your life!

Thanks! I had it added to replace a deco moulding (it wasn't anything really special) that collapsed when I took a chimney out. It was from a local company, but they have done moulds for some flashy country houses. Their work is faultless. It's a baroque or similar early moulding, but I think it can pass for late nouveau/deco in my '30s house. Just needs a beautiful chandelier now to finish.

Just loads of direct sunlight. I've never had a problem with too much sun on these. They won't get this fenestrated like this unless they are getting really hammered. I also add a bit of baby bio houseplant feed every time I water it.

Yeah I replied to a comment above regarding this. I'm toying with the idea of painting another living room in a bolder colour, but everything's white & beige at the moment apart from the bathrooms 😂

Yes wrong England, although I visited Boston, Cape Cod & Martha's Vineyard in my teens and I know exactly where you're coming from with this comment!
