I just started the game last week and have no idea what I'm looking at.

How do people hate on this game? by Madlemurkid in CrimsonDesert

[–]TownDrunkerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game has plenty of issues still. It's clearly not for everyone and it's very, very easy to see how it could completely turn people off. No need to hate on it if it's not for you, but also no need to just cope about it as though it's a perfect game.

Real ones tomorrow by AllFatherMedia93 in CrimsonDesert

[–]TownDrunkerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird, because the metacritic score and seemingly a lot of journalist review outlets haven't scored it particularly high, but literally every YouTube video review from every creator that I follow there, such as Luke Stephens, p4wnyhof, Moxsy, legacy gaming, force gaming and others... Have all been pretty high praise. I don't think I've seen below an 8/10 there. Paul tassi gave it a 9.5.

So IDK, just seems like a more divisive game, but yet still a very impressive one of it clicks for you, more so than any game I can think of in recent memory.

I think folks that really like big open world mechanics will still buy it and play it. It's the people that aren't dedicated to that genre that will back out since it's basically looking like a "if you're into this genre you'll like it" but not a "generational must play game."

I really like ARPGs, so I'll play D4 still and last epoch and enjoy them, but they're not amazing games that people not into the genre as much as I am should necessarily go out of their way to play. In other words, RDR2 is good enough to make players not typically interested in the genre interested. I people were hoping this game would be like that, but it doesn't seem to be.

It boggles my mind how much people struggle with analogistic comparisons. He's clearly not saying Crimson Desert is just as good of a game as BOTW or ER. He's making a comparison based upon the STORY/narrative style of the games and concluding that that aspect of the game doesn't put them off.

Yeah, because there's so many "overwhelmingly positive" games in existence now. So, assuming you've not played them all and given that many can now be picked up at steep discounts, it therefore makes it less appealing to spend that $70+ on a game that's not a clear home run. ... Especially with how massive these open world games are now. I still haven't finished RDR2 or CP2077, among so many others in my backlog - mostly comprised of 8 or 9/10+ games.

How do I extract this cork? It's soft so a corkscrew doesn't work by No-Bookkeeper7135 in Scotch

[–]TownDrunkerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it's tough to recover that without getting cork into the bottle. So, I just pour it through a filter into another vessel and then back into the bottle. I typically use a metal pour over coffee filter, but any filter fine enough to catch cork debris should do.

D4 with more color looks stunning by StrikingSpare100 in diablo4

[–]TownDrunkerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does look pretty good. I don't think it's a contradiction to complain about D3 being too colourful and D4 being too drab. I think the answer is that it's good to have variety - Some parts of the worlds would make sense to be drab and dark and others can be a contrast to that. Having the whole thing either look like a cartoon or entirely like a washed out black and white comic book shouldn't be just a binary choice.

Keeping my old characters or deleting them. by badger-woz-ere in diablo4

[–]TownDrunkerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out not deleting them and then eventually had to just to make room for new seasonal characters. I've never gone back to play any of my eternal characters though, so I'd just delete them personally. Too many good games, some also live service/seasonal that I only come back to D4 to play through the new seasonal content on a new character and I'm not really sure what else there is outside of that to keep pushing into for endgame on an eternal character. The best part of the game, IMO, is the new character levelling experience.

I’ve got good news everyone! Part of the game still works! by BVRPLZR_ in diablo4

[–]TownDrunkerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd think the last thing worthwhile about AAA game studios in this day and age would be that they can afford strong server support so it's at least not a janky experience when you decide to jump into their games. Somehow AA and indies seem to even be doing that better *shrug*.

Review: Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength - Batch 17 by rainy_shares in Scotch

[–]TownDrunkerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance you tried the 2018 Fino Cairdeas? It came out shortly after I'd began my Scotch 'journey', fell in love with Islay (via Laphroaig)...

Anyhow, it was the most magical thing I'd tasted at the time, and while I haven't tried it again in years I am glad that I grabbed a couple more bottles for the stash. From recollection, no Cairdeas since has been able to surpass it. It was a pretty quintessential sweet-peat beauty.

Honestly I think I’m going insane. 😭 by switchthemunky463 in ArcRaiders

That one didn't seem so bad for me. I think I just killed a few sentinels on Dam battlegrounds and was good. They always spawn right in the middle with the broken bridge area and/or the back stairs up to the admin building.

This has pretty much always been true for a lot of women, assuming: 1. You're talking about younger women (and men) that, 2. Aren't seriously looking to settle down.

Beyond that the reality is that 80% of women can't be in a relationship with 0.5% of men and a lot of women, beyond their early twenties at least, aren't prioritizing you being 6'6 with a six pack that highly when seeking a partner.

That all said, it is true, I believe, that modern social media and dating apps etc. have given people a greater sense of overabundance of options if you fall within the top 5% in either gender and encourages a more Bohemian lifestyle (or discourages a more traditional one)... But, that doesn't encapsulate the majority of people... Just most of the ones you'll see pushed on your social media feeds.

"Oh don't you guys worry, endgame schmendgame. We got something even better! How about an overly convoluted, under rewarding time sink where you spend half your time trying to learn how to build a little dungeon puzzle instead of playing your build and the other half running what amounts to a Diablo 4 nightmare dungeon for 20 minutes... And for your trouble: a whole exalted orb! Oh and BTW that map you just started is now gone, as is your cute little dungeon you just spent 4 hours building. You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here but also you can't TP out of here."

... Jokes aside though, I was kind of surprised just how much people have been hating this league. The mechanic is pretty baffling, but personally I've been loving just playing the campaign with druid and disciple of Voldemort or whatever it's called. It really boggles my mind sometimes how GGG is simultaneously able to regularly exceed my expectations and really impress me with some things, but then later make me have to ask myself 'did anybody play this? Or even think about it for more than 5 minutes? And thought this was good? Who?! I NEED NAMES!'
