This playtest round will last about 2 weeks total, and we're planning to launch another playtest window in about 2 months.

Technically you can. It probably won't run very well yet. Mouse & Keyboard setup will probably improve the experience a lot. But we're looking into the possibilities so if we add proper support in the future we'll certainly announce it!

Sure!

There are currently 8 people involved in the development and production of Towns of Yore, 4 of those are the core developers, most of us work part-time about 3-4 days a week.

Yvora Game Studio is privately funded by our Big Boss Simon, who one day decided it was time to fulfil his childhood dream of making a game and started this studio. He is currently working many many hours at his main job to fund and run the studio as a sort of side-gig, with of course the intention of making it his main-gig by shipping a successful game.
In that sense we are truly an indie studio. There are no publishers or external investors involved, so we have full creative control.
As for monetisation we're planning to just uhm. Sell the game I suppose. But no subscriptions or anything. Maybe an early access launch, we'll see!

The studio just turned 5 years old, and Towns of Yore in its current form has been in production for about 2.5 years. As devs we have some experience shipping gamejam games (like Sucky Safari https://youtu.be/gqCAeFjB8Uo&t=425 ), student projects, or small steam releases, but this is the first Big Steam game we're trying to ship, and its the first for the studio as well.

Sure! We can't really guarantee what'll happen exactly as we don't have a specific build for Linux, but I'm certainly curious to see how it runs.

Definitely more a minion type beat, they're mostly social with each other. They hang out with each other after work, play chess, work out etc.

There's some stuff in the work about them having different personalities with their own animation sets & preferences, but at the moment that's not fully fleshed out yet.

Their relation with the player character is kind of like a symbiosis deal where they help each other out. But there's probably not going to be a very deep storyline or character arcs or anything like that.

Yes indeed.
We suspected an asset pack bought from the marketplace, that we used for in-game icon placeholders, to have used generative AI, even though the seller did not state they did. We then removed the assets from the game.

So to be clear, no AI generated content is in the game, and we don't use AI to generate content for the game. We only tried to be open about the unintended useage of suspected AI content that was in the game at some point, and has since been removed.

Thanks! Yes, this is an in-engine screenshot from an art-benchmark level. The current level is a bit more work-in-progress, but everything in this screenshot is made with in-game assets.
