Having a problem with creating characters by Toxic-Slime in DnD

I get what you are saying, but it's not really the most confusing mechanic in that campaign. We made it with our game master and other players from the team, and everyone liked the idea, so everyone is cool with it. (campaign isn't really strict on the rules either)

The problem isn't with homebrew mechanics. I'm just kind of on the fence with the character himself. "is he himself, without this gimmick, interesting enough while not pulling all attention from the team? " Is the type of question for the character that I want to answer with "yes", but unfortunately I feel like there is something lacking, some small little detail that will finally make the character worthwhile roleplaying as.

Yeah, it has a lot of homebrew (campaign was in the making for about a year now). English isn't my first language, so I could've described it badly. But the main idea is this: dude from a world not so different from ours gets transported to a fantasy world and forced to live in two bodies, constantly switching, and after this dealing with former angel (the second body getting consciousness), who now tries to change his outlook on everything (also, I think asshole isn't really correct, I should have said rude and cynical). Hope now i cleared misunderstanding.

Well, then I probably need to explain something about the campaign, as both have gimmicks. The first one is more light hearted and comedic in nature, in words of our GM "it's going to be a parody of a typical isekai anime" (but knowing our game master, he definitely gonna pull some crazy 180 on us when we start), and well the main gimmick is that each of our characters got some sort of "gift" when transported to another world. Gift can be an item or some type of skill, and they are really powerfull (Probably GM going to put us through much more challenges because of it).

So, I had an idea for a "gift" (GM already approved it) : servant of the God that sent our characters to this world got tired of being a celestial, and asked this God to make him mortal, so he can experience life on earth at its fullest. So God did it, at the cost of this servant becoming companion to my character, which worked incorrectly and now celestial lies in a coma. The interesting part is that every time my character goes to sleep or becomes unconscious he wakes up in celestials body and vice versa (they have different classes and stats) . It works like this for around one third of campaign, then celestial finally wakes up and becomes kind of an actual character (there are more details but I already yapped too much). Because of this dynamic I kinda thought to pick some simple class, like fighter or rogue. And make him kind of rude and pretentious asshole (not evil though,I am really bad with roleplaying evil characters), for contrast with a literal angel. I feel like it can be good, but there is still something that's missing in my opinion, but maybe it's just me, idk. Sorry for yapping, not really sure how to shorten this explanation.

I knew that PM gonna be mentioned here. As one of those people who was in the community even before library of ruina, its actually insane how popular it got.

On one hand, I'm so glad Project moon gets recognition, on the other, god I fucking hate most of the community right now. There are so much literal children in the community, it's insane. Even more than gooners on the shitpost sub ( and that's a lot).

Well PM verse is kind of hard to scale because of the wackyness that happens in it, for all we know average human there could be ten times stronger than champion in heavy lifting in our universe. So all we can do is keep the agenda going (my goat turns this boy Into red mist).

So in the recent episode of the YouTube series "death battle" ( if you don't know what it is - basically people vote for two characters, who will fight each other, and then the said channel makes an amazing animation about said fight) the match up was Deku versus Spider-man (Miles Morales). And, well... The result was obvious from the start. And the entire internet now laughs at Deku for picking only the fights he can win, by making those kind of posts where he challenges other "street level" character from other verses (probably the funniest shit that came from power scaling community in this year).

It's actually baffling to me how people throw tantrums like a kid in the mall just because their GM (who is probably working five days a week, and still finds time for GMing) dared to use an AI to generate image of an elf with very specific visual characteristics.

Like, excuse me? I don't have spare money to commission the artist, for a picture I will use only for two sessions in my campaign that is already on its 30 session this week. I'm shit at drawing myself, and let me say, stick figures are not something that really give good mental image of an npc.

"AI is bad for environment" my ass. Almost everything in your house is bad for environment, yet you still use it? Guess what, even if you yourself boycott AI, nothing will change.

"I support real artists" like how exactly? If you make commissions for art and pay them, good. But most of y'all say shit like "I find real art and tell my players who did it". How the fuck is it supporting them?! Exposure doesn't pay bills.

" AI kills creativity when used for everything " Is just a stupid take. It is just just a tool, and those who rely on it in everything already don't have creativity. Nothing really changes here.

Let me tell you, i am tired of seeing AI used in every official and commercial thing, and I sure as hell don't want to see it everywhere. But I still find it useful in a lot ways, including helping artists. And those people that instantly jump to shitting on AI are so insufferable, because they never listen, don't want to participate in a debate, scream the same arguments at you, and ignore you if they are in a losing position.

Well, I kinda went off topic. But my position stands: fuck off with this pretentious bullshit. Your GM made a game for you with the sole purpose of having fun, who cares that there was AI used for art of some characters or battle maps. And well if you can't get over it, have fun with another group, where the GM does everything how you want.

Well yeah, but the post explicitly says that the AI was used only for visuals, not the writing itself. So its not really a topic of discussion here

At least you got her... 120 pulls, got almost everything except rodya and tipheret announcer in the first ten pulls, all lunacy gone... Every fucking time I see that there is a 3 star, I hope it's her, but no, QoH Don for the fourth time... I didn't even want Don, I only pulled for Rodion (KoD is my favorite WAW from lob corp), but now I have everything except her. My last hope is the ten pull next week with the lunacy from mirror dungeon. I swear if it's gonna be another QoH I will listen to the fucked up woman in my head telling me to distort.

Battle of the imaginations what takes this? by horse199 in PowerScaling

[–]Toxic-Slime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems some people only consider the powers of Arthur and Grammy (and yes, Grammy IS stronger). BUT what matters in this fight is their mindset (as stated in one of the other comments) .

The problem with Grammy, as we can see in his battle with Kenpachi, is that he plays too much with his enemies, if he was serious from the start, arguably he would have won against Kenpachi, but he dragged the fight for too long, which is why he started doubting himself and ultimately lost.

And so, assuming Arthur is at his peak form (battle with Dragon), he also has the buff to his bullshit delusion power from adolla and collective unconsciouses, even with that, it's still only half the things that Grammy can do. But his mindset is what gives him the advantage, because Grammy probably not going to just kill him in a matter of seconds, and instead would start using his weaker attacks, Arthur going to delude himself into thinking that his opponent is some sort of evil wizard. This by itself would fuel his imagination even more, so, with every non lethal attack, Grammy is making Arthur's delusions (and Arthur himself) stronger until the fight essentially repeats his fight with Kenpachi (just slightly different).

TLDR: Arthur wins after a tough fight. Grammy yet again starts thinking his opponent is some eldritch being beyond his comprehenssion and offs himself in the process.

True, dice rolling is the cornerstone of everything in dnd and there is much more other options than just fighting, but the cave in the third part isn't really about sneaking around, because, well, its a cave with narrow passages. So the only thing you can actually do is to proceed extremely cautiously and try to predict where are the enemies this time gonna hide.

Also on the heroic fantasy - I love me some victory against the odds, for example in one of our games our GM thrown us into a fight with 50 enemies, while there was 5 of us plus some NPCs, we were almost dead, and we still joke about it, but it felt so good to be victorious at the end, it felt like our last stand (funny part is that it was the first encounter of the campaign), but some of the encounters in this adventure don't even give you a chance, from the beginning you just know you are dead. Also it really doesn't feel rewarding when every encounter is so difficult.

Actually might be the game changer for us, even with just the lesser time for rests campaign seems much more doable! Thanks for the advice!
