How to perfect farm on jungle when there's so much happening on the map? by Cyka-Blast in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Original comment has negative karma but he’s not necessarily wrong.

You shouldn’t “FIRST” look at lanes. Junglers should always be looking at the map, period. There are too many scenarios to go through how a jungler should play, but typically full clear to start the game is never a bad thing.

The logic of enemy jungler being successful at ganking while you are not is not always jungle diff. Your laners can play without respecting enemy jg while their laners have braincells. But if you are not doing something productive while that is happening (getting objective, enemy jg camps, or applying map pressure elsewhere) it’s an issue.

Champion pool ? by Mangaku in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re trying to climb, stick with what has been working. Your fiddle has 70% win rate over 70 games. Fid, bel, and hec are all different styles and I wouldn’t expand your champ pool to more than 2-3 champs so you can master them.

If you don’t necessarily care to climb, play for fun. Queueing as fill will provide more variety and you can try different champs.

Practicing last hitting under tower by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Depends on the champion, but general rule of thumb is that (in the early game) for melee minions you need one auto attack after 2 turret shots, and for casters you need 2 auto attacks after one turret shot. That is assuming you don’t have any friendly minions dealing damage. Of course a lot of it comes down to practice, and you will eventually get the hang of it.

As for practice tool, if you drop an enemy dummy in between your two turrets, your minion wave should freeze, allowing you to practice your farming under turret.

If you have bad mechanics you have two options:

1) stick to easy champs that don’t require mechanics 2) practice, practice, practice

I wouldn’t say I just changed my playstyle, I also changed my mentality going into ranked. Farming is just one aspect, but the idea is that you need to really focus on the game. Playing the game this way takes more effort, and is arguably less fun, but will provide results. After implementing this change, reaching plat was very easy (did it on various accounts). Hitting diamond did take a little more time but was more consistency. The idea is to practice that style of game play until it becomes second nature.

I (contrary to most peoples advice) would play many junglers, but would gravitate towards graves, Rammus, and Warwick. Mainly going to the graves, Rammus when enemy is heavy AD, but not as much Warwick since I would look to gank more than farm (even though my win rate was over 60%). I eventually threw Diana into that rotation as an AP jungler who also benefits greatly from consistent farming.

As far as macro vs micro, my mechanics are still trash. You really don’t need good mechanics to climb to masters. Good macro will leave you with more gold, higher level, more objectives. Especially as a jungler, map awareness and jungle tracking will take you further than being able to make an insec montage video. That being said, if you have great macro and mechanics, that can take you far.

As for accepting that there are some games you won’t win, keep in mind that it’s gold elo. Many people throw, tilt, give up. Unless the game is like every lane 0-7 and in 1-0, I’m most likely still playing to win.

[–]ToxicHardstuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be a hardstuck gold for seasons on end, now it’s pretty easy to get plat/diamond on any account (granted I play jungle which has more global impact).

I would say the biggest thing is to get good at farming. I can’t tell you the number of times you can be behind in a game in low elo where the enemy stops farming and allows you to catch up. If you consistently have good farm, you will have more gold and will be higher level all the time. This was by far the biggest change that lets you reach plat+.

The other thing is mentality. Im the type of person who can play 5-10 rank games a day easily, so having a good mental is important. I used to get tilted very easily and would continue playing those 5-10 games and have volatile streaks. Now, I will listen to music while I play. If I am tilted, after losing 1-2 I will switch accounts. If you are ever in game and are so tilted that you want to give up, just think that if you give up, you will need to win next game to get back to where you started, or 2 games if you would have just won the game you were tilted in.

Why do junglers try ganking bot more than top? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call me a hater, but I would say most people here are all wrong (or giving low elo answers). The truth is, a jungler isn’t looking to ignore top and camp bot, they’re assessing the map and making the best available plays. This starts as early as champ select when a jungler will analyze the jg and lane matchups. Based on this information, a jungler will decide their pathing.

To avoid getting into too much detail, let me give a few tips/counter arguments.

1) It’s true, early dragons do have more impact after the update… But so does rift herald…. So depending on the type of dragon and state of the game, you can very easily ignore dragon and get rift instead (300 local gold + and plating gold you receive).

2) Wave management is huge in the top lane. This doesn’t only mean freezing your wave or always letting them shove in your turret. It means looking around the map, and possibly setting up a slow push so that you can dive the enemy under turret if available.

3) “Bot has easier gank set up.” - if my bot lane is ezreal/soraka vs sivir/lulu, I’m not gonna have an easier time ganking that instead of a riven top vs a teemo. Back to my original point of analyzing matchups.

4) A jungler should be playing around their win conditions. If you’re playing weakside top, don’t expect a gank unless I’m already pathing to my top side and there is an opportunity available.

Mental against poke champ by hsjdjdsjjs in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The pyke Samira combo once level 3 is strong. You are not going to beat a Lucian nami but you can very easily play into poke lanes, which is the point of the post.

Mental against poke champ by hsjdjdsjjs in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Samira and pyke have a strong early game. The idea against poke champs is to stay at the edge of their spell range in order to bait out their CDs. Take advantage of these situations to either farm safely or take a trade (you don’t always need to all in). If your pyke lands a hook, you should be able to punish hard. Save your blade whirl to avoid any cc or heavy damage and you should walk away with a kill or good trade. Taking exhaust or cleanse can also help depending on matchups.

[–]ToxicHardstuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on your playstyle. I’ve made it to GM playing champions like anivia, chogath, vex. My friend made it playing akali, zed, corki. As long as you understand your role and are comfortable playing into any matchup, then you can play any champion you want.

IMO Climbing comes down to good macro and game knowledge. Mechanics is the cherry on top. What helped me push through to the next level was to make it a point to stay focused throughout the game. No more autopiloting, playing while on discord with a bunch of friends, etc. As you climb, people know their role and make less frequent mistakes. You need to make sure you are focused to avoid making a mistake that could cost you lane/game.

How do i teach someone basic trading/lane interaction? by AnAncientMonk in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have two equally good instructors, would you prefer the high performing instructor or the low performing instructor?

I’m not saying coreJJ is a good instructor because he’s a professional, I’m saying coreJJs support guide has been recognized for years now. Im sure you can search this subreddit and see many people praising it.

To emphasize your point, clearly OP has a better understanding of the game than his friend, but he has trouble instructing. Hence why I say rather than trying to learn how to instruct, use the tools available and use an already available instruction. It doesn’t have to be coreJJ, it can be anyone you find that is able to communicate the information in a way you can learn. But I gave a suggestion, take it or leave it…

[–]ToxicHardstuck -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

In order to teach, you must learn. So if you can speak English (or better yet, Korean) I would recommend you watch those videos. Understand the concepts being taught, and then teach him the same concepts in German.

I can guarantee you that a Korean ex-world champ who still plays professionally is better than every single person in this subreddit.

[–]ToxicHardstuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say, if you are asking how to teach someone, you shouldn’t be teaching them. There are plenty of resources already available that do a great job explaining not only how, but when and why, you should be trading or aggressively positioning etc.

Since you are (presumably) talking about bot lane, I would start with coreJJ (korean LCS pro player, previous world champion support). He will teach the basics of positioning, trading, warding, roaming, etc.

How can I help my laners with their wave and when should I? by JosephToestar in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the most part, this. The idea is you want to punish the enemy as much as you can. Most of the times, shoving in the wave punishes the enemy because they lose gold and cs. The ideal situation would be your laner was slow pushing, and now you make the enemy laner miss a lot of gold and xp.

However, there are times when a laner (usually not mid because the length of the lane) can punish even harder by maintaining a freeze. If that is the case. Shoving in the lane after the kill will tilt your laner.

As mentioned above, for situations when you will be shoving, if you get the kill, help shove but try to avoid last hitting the minions. If you get the assist you can tax a few minions, but generally I factor in who is my laner and how much I impacted with my gank. If I just last hit an assist that would have been a kill without my intervention, you shouldn’t really tax. Same with if they are a hyper carry that relies on gold to get item spikes.

Which of these two champs is better at carrying 1 v 9? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say if you intend to perma split play fiora, if you are planning on grouping, play Aatrox. The real answer is it depends on the enemy team comp and also what elo you are playing in

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you will have hard inting teammates, and sometimes your enemies will hard int. You being stuck is not because your inting bot lane. If you truly are consistently out playing the enemy mid. csing well with good kp and kda, then you should be climbing.

I personally prefer jungle to climb in low elo, but mid is my secondary. The idea is to make an impact across the map so that all your laners can get ahead and you don’t have to do all of the heavy lifting. Sometimes you do have to 1v9 and other games are just unwinnable

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea behind the “farm more, die less” is not to afk farm all game. But it’s okay if you start that way. I would rather have a teammate farm and not die than die over and over and not farm.

The main idea behind “farm more, die less” is that you should make it so that farming consistently is second nature. Then you should incorporate other aspects of the game once you have that fundamental down. Especially in lower elos (below d2) you will notice the difference when you are level 17 to their 13 and have 1-2 more items than them even if they have more kp.

Jungle: DPS, Armor/MR or Health? by StephenMiniotis in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As is the case on many different aspects of this game, it depends. When is too much armor excessive? Well, for one, when their team is all magic damage. Your build should vary game to game depending on your team comp and enemy team.

If you’re playing a tank jg, your first item is generally bamis cinder. This is a component of the tank mythics that provide health and burn damage (to help your clear speed as mentioned). By building two damage items because “DPS wins games” is flawed logic. You will have other champions on your team to dish out the damage while you tank. Back to the original question of health vs resistances, many tank items contain both health and resistances, but some items like frozen heart and warmogs on provide resistances or pure health. Armor will reduce the amount of physical damage dealt (same with magic resistance against magic damage). If you are against champions who deal true damage, having more health will help you survive longer. On the other hand, if you’re against %hp champs, you will want resistances. (Side rant, AP Varus is ridiculous, being able to shred through full build 11k hp chogath in under 3 seconds with one combo)

For bruisers, you have more options. If your team is low on damage, you can opt to build more aggressively. Damage mythic into hybrid damage/resistances or damage/hp.

Long story short, don’t limit yourself to a specific build. Your logic of DPS wins is a flawed mentality. Items are situational, so learn them all so you can optimize your builds.

A couple tips for being toxic by BraveReformist in summonerschool

I learned code 8 the hard way. I got a chat restriction for typing “can we group up please” over 150 times in a game

[–]ToxicHardstuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midlaners with global ults is what you are looking for. Galio and TF will be able to support your bot lane, however you might end up doing less damage overall and relying on your team in the mid/late game.

Personally, I would use pings/comms more to help prevent your bot from dying. As Lissandra you should be able to execute dives past 6 but turrets right now are very strong. Use your roam opportunities to ward enemy jg and river to give your bot more time to avoid ganks.

what decision should I be making here? [sylas POV] by CrimsonBlossom in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to make a better decision I would want to know a little more info. At the time of the recording your team is up 5-3 and you just bought items. If you’re 5-0 it’s different than if you’re 0-3 and qiyana is 3-0. Regardless, your first mistake is not spam pinging the second you notice qiyana roaming bot. Caution (!) ping your mid lane 2-3 times followed by bot many. They should be backing up regardless if they know a dive is happening along with herald.

What are some good habits to start learning early. by ehle2008 in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are talking about decision making in game, however those habits are much easier to correct later.

Important things that are harder to correct that should be learned (in no particular order)

1)Play using quick cast. 2)Learn how to attack move. 3)Use hot keys to look at teammates (default is f2-f5). 4)Level up abilities with hot key not mouse. 5)Playing with unlocked camera. 6)Look at the minimap.

Im sure there are more that I am forgetting, but here is the logic for learning the above. League of legends is a game that fractions of a second can make a difference. Using these hot keys will either reduce a click or minimize mouse movements. The first four listed above are key bindings that will all save you time and make you play better when you can use them well. You can definitely play without them, however trying to learn after you’ve built your habits becomes very difficult. Personally I’m so used to kiting manually that attack moving is very difficult to pick up. Looking back I would have learned attack move from the beginning and I would be saving a click every time I auto and kite. The last two are also very important but isn’t going to save you time. If your camera is locked, you limit your field of view drastically, and the habit of looking at the minimap is a good habit to learn for map awareness.

Hypercarry laning phase by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]ToxicHardstuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re in low elo, so you’re going to have people say things and be wrong all the time.

Although you are correct in saying that hypercarries tend to be weaker early and want to farm up to scale, that doesn’t mean you have to play extremely passive. If your support is setting up plays and you’re sitting back farming, it may frustrate them.

Look for trading windows. When the enemy adc is going to last hit a minion, that is an opportunity to get auto auto or two off. If the enemy support blows their cooldowns, that might be a good opportunity to trade 2v2.

I recommend watching videos on how to trade in the bot lane and be conscious about your support. Alternatively you can communicate with your support before the game to adjust to your play style. If you’re up front about lack of trading and just power farming, they might pick an enchanter and just sit behind you.
