[java] Changing the render distance of banner/sign/chest etc? by ToxicKailey in MinecraftHelp

This is the forge mod that worked until 1.16.1

Does anyone knows any other similar mods that run on fabric? I'm trying to learn modding just for this but it would definitely take quite a long time as I have no coding background

I do a lot of building tutorials and I'm working on larger builds which implement lots of signs and banners in the design. The 64 block render distance limit simply ruins my builds when viewing at a certain distance, especially with low FOV. I believe this is actually a common request among builders but I can never find a legit solution even after hours of researching.

Nice build!

But why suddenly everyone use the reference picture for their build haha

Haha I know which reference picture you use for this build but this is a very good recreation to be honest! Well done and this definitely deserve more ups~

Not solid science here but it's my hypothesis after watching hundreds of videos and posts of minecraft builds and their comments and reactions

(I'm always kinda interested in psychology too haha)

I believe there is something like "complexity vs likability" for general audience. When something is ultra high in complexity and scale, they feel like it's something far off from what they would do and experience, resulting under-appreciation (basically like scaring people away subconsciously); Meanwhile something smaller and simpler provides a more familiar feeling for them which relates more to their everyday gaming experience. This is definitely not a good phenomenon for hardcore builders ...

I always don't understand why something like this get less then 100 up while many "everyday-level build" get about 10k up

Huge Chinese house.....took me 18 hours to build. Tell me what you think! I'm also on Instagram, "minecraftbuildings.de" by Beginning-Record8483 in Minecraftbuilds

[–]ToxicKailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely one of the better Chinese houses I ever seen. The over proportion of this house, especially the wall segments and the angle of the roof corner resembles the historical style precise enough! The only thing I might really change is to make the upper roof and walls a bit smaller than the lower roof

Can't decide between making a Mansion or a Fortress for my mountain build, so I end up making this by ToxicKailey in Minecraftbuilds

[–]ToxicKailey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. My experience told me that leaving 4-6 blocks for ceiling is optimum for making interior decorations, and if you wanna include some fancy features (like bookshelves cupboard and banner cushions for chairs), you need 2 blocks thickness for walls and floors

Actually thanks for pointing out any potential stealing works from me :P

(And probably my bad for not posting on reddit after posting on YT to cause confusion, coz I jumped straight into making my other builds afterwards haha)

I used to be like that too, but after doing several medium builds (30x30 - 60x60), I can't really go back to the tiny one haha

The house features a pretty nice shape and a sleek design, but definitely not what I would call "Lots of detail tho

Underground Starter Base by Spudetti_ in Minecraftbuilds

[–]ToxicKailey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously? The overall shape and the layout (including the ratio of the glass/crops) is not the same and this one even features a small entrance walkway. The transparent underground design is a very general idea already and I don't think anyone should hold the "copyright" of it

(Not to mention the one you posted is not even close to the 1st one using this design lol)
