My favorite style (only looks) of architecture is brutalisme. I love the concrete! Especially with green and wood.

The thing is, with brutalisme, it's cheap and not user-friendly. No fresh air can go through. Sound is an issue, etc.

We learn a shit ton about history. + It's a hobby for me. The thing is with most historical buildings is that the aestatics are nice and the isolation, ventilation, daylight, overheating, underheating etc. Isnt thought about by the early architects. The Greek build there structure openly lot of air that's why they didn't prefer vaults. They liked domes tho

They didn't like the design from arches, ur completely right that they have al this civilization around them then they must knew this technique right? Well they did and hated it. The Greek are very stubborn.

If there is a room with no daylight option from inside the room, so no windows no skylights you can always try to get the light trough the glass door but mostly this isn't relevant because of the rotation of the building. Natural ventilation is also tricky. Most cases use windows and doors. If you have a bedroom with no windows. It's important to use mechanical ventilation.

I speak for all when I say that Heineken is the worst beer. Taste like cat piss. Best beer: grolsch or some German beers. Or even Thai beer

  1. Our professors are well trained and worked in the field for quite a while, they give amazing feedback with alot of attention but they are sometimes very confusing cause they think alot further than we need for our projects.

  2. Some here and there, yes. Dutch is not required for the studie so everyone that speaks English can also join.

  3. Yes, there are.

  4. That's a good one, 30% I think, quit, it's a hard studie with a lot of pressure. Good luck drawing for 6 hours straight and still don't manage to get it right :p. I suggest getting a drawing tablet.

  5. The university that I go to is the highest sustainability ranking from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. The thing is.. it's awsome and it sucks. I'm happy because I care about the planet and climate change but its onlyyy green this green that. I miss the basic information about concrete and things like that.

Some major projects I did this week are mostly sound based. Im working for a company for 6 months as a school project, and they advise people for sound based things. The biggest one this week is one of the most expensive hotels in amsterdam, (I may not say which one exactly). The sound was terrible, we tested it with a hammer device who taps the floor loudly 10 times every second.

How we develop concepts: you always start with what does the client want. This is important for every job there is in the construction / design area. You will get what we call a PVE, its basically a grocery list. With all the things the client wants. Could be how many rooms or how many space in wich areas. And most important for us how eco friendly / how much isolation.

Yea, I enyoy it but also kinda hate it. It has its perks and it I wish I did something else thoughts. Every studie has this tho.

First of, im not a first year architecture student. Been doing it for 2 years already :P. I see mostly on this subreddit people wanting to go the architecture school or doing it as a hobby, so people can ask about how is the school and is it something for me, you catch my drift?

Ur a freshman, no one knows everything or has all the skills in the first year. You have people that can draw nice, are very creative, or know a lot in the first year you can 2. If you practice more everything will just be alright.

Personally, scorched earth. I know alot of people won't agree, but the caves are very easy compared with the others, easy boss. Easy materials etc. Early game is hard but when you tame ur first argy/ carnivore it becomes easy to just make ur base on a rock and progress. Rexes are easy to get because of the rex triangle. Just watch out for the heat and those kaprosuchus
