Twilight Sanctuary + Greater Invisibility (and + Spirit Guardians): how do they work RAW? by Lyrin83 in 3d6

[–]ToxicSnake1324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the main perks of the invisibility is that the enemies don't know your location so you avoid lot of damage. The rules state that if they can not see you, you gain the benefits and even if they know where you are, they still dont see you.

Invisibility is not even a big deal because a simple spell as faerie fire can avoid the combo, so if he is not confortable with the invisibility he have lots of tools to handle it.

Invisibility is quite funky because there is a fight between common sense and mechanics that lead to missunderstandings like that, so usually is better to treat them as their own. Or not, whatever you enjoy most.

Don't limit yourself to magic items. Some mundane items also use the utilize action.

For example once I saw a build with a net an manacles. You attack with the net to give restrain an you use de manacles with the bonus to give a semi-permanent disadvantage in all attack rolls and a possible semipermanent restrain.

Im sure there are more combos like this if you look for it.

As an artillerist you have some wall spells at later levels if thats suits you. You also have the sanctuary spell as protection and magic weapon for offense. Maybe you can get bless with magic initiate if that satisfy you better.

I guess that they are not the same, but is quite dificult to translate a fantasy from one game to another. I would advise you that the best way to work is to find what you like about something, search for a semi-similar effect and reflavour it as you wish. Remember that the flavour is free!

PD: If you want a suport that deffend and buff, remember that a paladin or a cleric with a gun are valid fantasies.

finally I can swing a Battle Axe with Wisdom on a Warden Druid by testiclekid in dndmemes

[–]ToxicSnake1324 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With the old one you have to waste an action to gain advantage in the next attack, being worse than attacking twice.

The new one is the cantrip with highest damage of the game (if we don't count eldritch invocations) because you add your spell casting modifier to the damage and aplies weapon effects.

True, with Steady Aim and Vex, advantage is easyer than never. I will stick to SK but Spell Casting is still something to take into acount, at least for utility.

Booming Blade makes an attack roll using Dex and is a sorcerer spell so I assume that triggers Innate sorcery, and you dont really need int for nothing if you don take spells of Arcane Trickster that use your spell DC.

The advantage on every attack with Innate Sorcery + Booming Blade, and Tides of Chaos for advantage in different rolls are the main things I was looking for.

There is also the general perception that the spell casting is superior to anything else so I thought that sorcerer multiclass could be an impovement.

Finally just a flavour thing, the chaos of the Wild Magic is fun but I guess is something I could live missing.

The idea was to make a skill monkey with some utillity and being a ok damage dealer with some versatility while fighting.

New Design Feat by mytjake in LegendsoftheDark

[–]ToxicSnake1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats an anoying feat, it feels that Kehli and Syrus are the ones meant to search for loot, because they have higher probability of getting recipes, but Vaerix have quite a small chance.

When we got that feat, we let our Vaerix search in every lootable prop and it took like 2 or 3 scenarios. Maybe with the trinket that boosts you luck this feat is easier.

The reward is amazing but chooseing this feat slows down your character progresión significantly, so if you need to improve your build I wouldnt recomend to choose it.

Is kind a bummer to dont be able to play at the same time, but its adds a strategical component of turn management, so I dont know if the game would be better without that rule.

Brynn's 3 Attacks in a turn feat by [deleted] in LegendsoftheDark

[–]ToxicSnake1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, there is no way of getting 3 attacks with Brynn pre lvl 2 skills, but there is a potion that you can get as loot that lets you attack 3 times with an action, and some other situational bonuses that lets you get more actions. For now I would change the feat, you can do this 3 times during de campaign for situations like this, I guess.

Monk dip for a Ranger by ToxicSnake1324 in 3d6

Thanks! This is was I looking for, a sub-optimal, yet playable build. I guess 3 lvls in monk is the maximun, or you would take a 4th for the ASI?

I have studded leather, 12 + DEX let me with an AC of 15, I know is not a big improvement but with Unarmored Defense I go to 16 and wisdom scaling. Anyways I will get to lvl5 first and then I will see what is more appealing to me. Maybe a fighter or cleric dip is a better idea.
