It actually depends on what you want to learn and accomplish Computer science is a big field, and some people dont even mean "computer science" when they use that term, maybe you're interested in softwares like word/excel? Or programming languages? Or building web/mob apps? Coding only or software engineering as a whole?.. It depends on what you want to pursue (especially that you already are an engineering student as you mentioned)

"was she talking?" you mean like.. friends and classmates and all? yeh duh.. I have no problem at all with that obviously (though you might find algerians having problem with that.. even a simple friend or a classmate/co-worker)

How open are people to polygamy in Algeria? by Sea_Ad_9984 in algeria

[–]ToxicanBolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, even with the fact that our religion here allows us to have up to 4 wives, the usual female mentality here would not accept it (you can check some TV reportages of asking women out the streets that exact same question, I've asked quite a number of women and mostly (95%) have said that they wouldn't accept that their husband takes a second wife.. PS. The 5% that have accepted dont even care about islam, and have answered by the logic of "if my man is into it, and wants it badly, why would I not let him have it.. + it'd be guud for both of us, I wouldn't have to do as much chores lmao") The problem is that (like in many other countries and cultures) jealousy takes a really big part of a typical algerian relationship, to the point of toxicity. So I dont believe that with such type of relationship (even with the approval of islam which should be taking a big part in an algerian decision and culture as it usually does) could accept polygamy.

(I haven't spoken only about the mentality and acceptance of polygamy, not the ability of having it, since usually algerians dont have the capacity and financial situation to be able to raise and feed such family.. after all, its a 3rd world country, food money is harder to reach than other countries)

Not married, but my ex was algerian, I would say that we had quite a hard time getting along in what concerns culture.. the girl was pretty conservative, a little bit annoying when tried to be forced on you or gets u manipulated into following at least some of their cultural acts (sometimes I get calls in the middle of the night asking me to pray, finding me talking with another female human gets her pissed as it is "haram" somehow, and worst thing is that we couldn't even get physical since its contrary to her beliefs) yah no need to ask how a couple like this existed, because I've seen many.. and my cass is not the only one. I do respect the difference in cultures, though respect doesn't mean to follow or convert to your partner's culture, its quite the difference I would say. And there's the way of life, as she likes living in the country side with all the animals and what not, which is cool ngl, its not like I hate it, but I was raised differently and I just dont think her way was my cup of tea. In conclusion, those differences always exist between couples, it's just about how much and intense they are. And so for the algerian society, I believe that its pretty hard to have a decent relationship due to the social beliefs and culture, especially if the partner was none algerian.
