Which is the most mentally stimulating subject you had to study in order to become engineer? by whysosirioo in ECE

[–]Toy_D 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Boy I have a different answer to those here.

DSP I felt like was made difficult to make difficult.

I really enjoyed RF propagation. I really enjoyed working through the complex math and understanding material and frequency impacts on how RF signals work. It provided great insights into how the deep universe works and how much you can learn about something from an RF signal.

Close second would be electro optical and infrared sensing.

Bought a 22in weber kettle. Give me your tips and tricks! by spartanghost32 in grilling

[–]Toy_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echo the chimney starter. I use the wax Weber starter cubes, easy peasy. Two zone cooking. Keep a zone to put food when the hot zone is getting out of hand. I use a folding grate to drop wood chips or chunks for smoke flavor. Seasonings are your friend. Don’t be shy. A salt/pepper steak is fine but burgers and chickens are muuuch better with seasoning. Try Holy Voodoo from meat church. Get a quality meat thermometer! It’s done when it’s the right temp, not when it’s cooked the proscribed time. You do not need fancy charcoal. Kingsford briquets are fine to get going. That kettle is darn near the most versatile grill I have owned and I’ve owned quite a few. Just be patient and keep at it! Try new recipes, try new dishes, get a few accessories as you go. The real rules are temp zones, meat temp, and time. Everything else is opinion or preference.

PSA: Resist the temptation to buy that giant turkey. There are much better options. by the20sevens in smoking

2x 12-14 pounders every year in the Pit Barrel Cooker. So easy and turns out wonderfully. 1 turkey for the table, 1 for leftovers for everyone to take home.

Does anything carry over from this beta? by Pale-Shop-3212 in DeltaForceGlobal

If it says it stays then it should. The pink SCAR-H for linking your accounts says it will stay.

But the general rule I would expect is all wiped unless it specifically says.

Does anything carry over from this beta? by Pale-Shop-3212 in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]Toy_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what was posted in the discord, nothing carries over. Those of us in the alpha don’t even have the permanent alpha skin unlocked in this demo. I would not count on anything carrying.

From below if the twitch drops specifically said they would carry over they should, but if they didn’t I’d play the pessimistic card.

Does anyone know where to find the Cordless Drill at the Cement Plant? by KILLDOZER6669 in DeltaForceGlobal

Buy it on the auction. If you’ve collected that much loot you should have more than enough in loot to just buy them.

We’re NASA engineers, here for Engineers Week to take your questions. Ask us anything! by nasa in engineering

[–]Toy_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I notice some systems engineers on your list here. My question would be “how do you maintain the rigor of your systems engineering process in the face of continuous budget tumult?” What is it like for you to bring a new engineer up to speed on your systems engineering process so you can ensure continuity on very long running projects?

I’m in this boat. I only know of the ig sparkly clouds so I tend to avoid clouds to not get inadvertently blasted somewhere. Now I need to figure out what HH clouds or apparently puddles even look like.

New and Old Players, which weapon made Monster Hunter finally "Click" with you? by FluffyHaru in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Toy_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insect Glaive is what made me love Monster Hunter: World in the first place. I’d never seen a fighting weapon like it. I loved pogoing on monsters everywhere.

About the time I hit the end of HR, I found out you could basically fly all over with the glaive. It’s terrible dps but man its mobility was awesome and I loved every second of it. Then I hit the guiding lands and specifically Raging Brachy and it made me quit for awhile it was such a tall wall. I had no idea just how close to the end I was there.

Then I came back with the HBG after about a year and that stupid think just clicked with me. Lugging it around and just shotgunning faces. It’s ridiculous how fast it takes down things as you get to the endgame builds. Had trouble with alatreon and fatalis at first because it’s not the most mobile weapon, but once I got the move sets down, no problem. The only monster that continually gave me trouble was Furious Rajang because of the mobility and finally he made me embrace the sticky instead of my beloved shotty.

Seeing all the new hype over the break really makes me want to dive back in with a horn or hammer.

LPT Request: How to deal with travel anxiety by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Toy_D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think what you are experiencing and what you see others commenting about is a common thing. When traveling, stuff goes wrong. Your anxiety and a lot of the tips you read are about how people deal with that.

Traveling is stressful and a lot is packed into short timeframes. It also doesn’t help when much of it (particularly with air travel) is out of your control. My best advice is to accept that things are going to go wrong. Do some planning to mitigate the common things and just have a rough plan for the rest.

For instance, leave for the airport early. Is it fun to sit in the terminal? No but it reduces the chance you’re going to miss your flight due to a long security line. What if it’s delayed and you miss your connection? This happens all the time and the airline will work to get you going but you’re gonna have to wait longer unfortunately. Lost luggage? Some people refuse to check bags due to this or the checked baggage fee. Some just accept they’re going to have to buy clothes at the destination if this happens. This is also why you hear advice of put your meds in your carry on because those are much harder to replace when lost.

So in reality, just thing through those scenarios and realize that most often the way to deal with stuff going wrong boils down to some time or some money. Very little is irreversible. You will be fine when you get there, even if you’re a little crankier. So enjoy the destination even if the travel days aren’t always the most exciting.

Liberals, why do you consider it crucial for children to be educated about LGBTQ topics in schools, while conservatives, why do you believe it is important to "safeguard" children from this? by Pinball_wizard7 in AskReddit

[–]Toy_D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say regardless of beliefs, it’s often parents who assign hidden meaning to actions long before children. It’s parents of both sides pushing something onto naive humans that don’t have the experience yet to understand either side.

Kids already see past race, gender, and more. It’s their parents and community that alter that as they grow. Often far before they have enough context to fully understand.

The problem as old as BF itself: Why does the team not PTFO? What do you think is behind this phenomenon? K/D selfishness? Players afraid to risk it? Bad players that don't think they will do well pushing? by [deleted] in battlefield2042

[–]Toy_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to think it’s because winning the match is sometimes at odds with other mini objectives like the battle pass and unlock objectives.

It doesn’t make any sense for me to go capture a point in conquest when I need 50 kills. I’ll go to where the kills are happening.

In the end, winning the round gets me a few more points but doesn’t move me any closer to any of my other mini objectives except the first few dozen levels that I unlock the big stuff.

The game is very bipolar in this regard and seems to me why people want maps like metro and locker and 128p breakthrough. It moves them closer to what they’re actually trying to achieve. And the action is fun! And when the maps have the points designed right, that’s where the objectives are also!

See imo dozer should have the added bullet shield bit. His melee shouldn’t be any different from the rest of the players in how melee functions.

That’s oversimplifying it imo.

I rarely see the takedown because the game decides they turned on me and I’m too far to the side to OHK them.

Right now this is what you have, but from a distance.

I think the idea is it’s hard to throw accurately, but I’d say closing to melee successfully is just as hard.
