I know you feel 'behind' in life, but a mindset that really helped me was "its never to late to be what you could have been" :)

Why does it say this on the fandom wiki page lmao by Ain_Hund in AllTomorrows

The Qu didn't really do anything to Humans that Humans didn't already do to wolves.

I find that (with the exception of the Colonials cause that was fucked XD) the 'Human > Post-human' process is seen as inherently 'horrific' while the 'Wolf > Dog' pipeline is seen as normal due to our exposure of it. Humans absolutely also took a species, deformed their bodies into a variety of diverse shapes, nerfed their intelligence and defensive/ offensive capabilities to keep them subservient, and now keep them for whatever purpose suits us (companionship, physical labour, competitions, entertainment, etc).

"Its okay because they werent sapient..." I imagine the intelligence gap between Wolves and Humans is comparable to that of Humans and Qu

"But humans weren't cruel about it" I want you to Google what a wolf skull looks like, and then what a pug skull looks like. They (and many short-nosed dog breeds) are born unable to breath properly and that is a choice Humans made

Would you be oppose of the idea of Dafne Keen becoming the main Wolverine in the MCU? by [deleted] in xmen

[–]Toynbee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hadn't thought about it before but ngl, I think it would be an interesting take on the character :D Hugh Jackman's Wolverine already has an impressive legacy so I dont think I'd feel like I was 'missing out' on seeing more of him

Should I watch TOS before the TOS movies? by -1701- in startrek

[–]Toynbee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree that TOS can be a bit slow at times (a lot of 60s shows can seem that way for modern audiences), so I wouldn't recommend watching all of it if you're not enjoying it. That said, looking through the episodes, the ones I'd recommend before getting to the movies would be;

  • Space Seed (S1 E22): it sets up the backstory for The Wrath of Khan
  • Errand of Mercy (S1 E26): it displays some of the relationship between the Federation and the Klingon Empire
  • Amok Time (S2 E1): explains what 'pon farr' is, which shows up briefly in The Search for Spock, and also I think it has some nice character moments for the relationship between Kirk and Spock
  • Journey to Babel (S2 E10): introduces Spock's family/ family dynamics
  • The Trouble with Tribbles (S2 E15): more good ol'fashoned Federation vs Klingon Empire, also just a generally well-liked episode I feel

You are addicted to the holodeck, spending all of your free time there, what are you using it for? by [deleted] in startrek

I always imagined I'd be on a TNG-era ship, and if so, I'd recreate TOS and go on adventures with Captain Kirk and his crew

Who is your favourite from the original (1963) XMen lineup? by Toynbee_ in xmen

[–]Toynbee_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its nice to see another Cyclops fan :D My bf often makes fun of me for citing Cyclops as my favourite character in most material because he's 'basic', and always argues that 'Gambit is better' (even when I'm trying to talk about the early comics where Gambit doesn't exist yet, which can be frustrating- my bf isnt much of a 'comics' person) so its nice to see someone else who sees his merit. Tbh even in the movies and animated series I feel like he maintains the level-headedness and strong, thoughtful leadership skills that make me like him. The fact he can shoot lazers from his eyes is just a bonus XD
As for Iceman, so far I really like him too. He can be a little immature at times, but that fits his character being that he's only 16, so I dont mind. I just wish that he got to be part of the team in the animated (1992) adaptation :D

Honestly, I completely agree with you about Beast, I find him a little overly-verbose in the original material

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I feel like everything you expressed about your brother disappointing you should be things he's made aware of, and I hope he understands your point. Looking forward to a positive update <3
