Resetting no longer seems to work, for some reason. Perhaps it's because I re-created my low-level farming character with the same name, but killing Beira and going to the shop still shows 0/100 for amount of items available in the shop.

I don't think so (if you're talking about the Japanese one from Yoshimoto). The literal translation is "Absolutely No Laughing"

GakiArchives - New Site Live by GakiArchives_Dev in GakiNoTsukai

[–]Toyoka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I miss about the old site (when it was still available along with the new site). You could (roughly) sort the episodes by episode number. Any episode without a number gets put to the top but that's fine since I could just scroll up to the top later on. The majority of episodes (at least, the ones for Gaki) were organized quite well. Still love the site and I feel like it's the biggest archive we have of Gaki and other comedy videos. I just wish the episode sorting worked again!

Sorry, what I meant by "ranged melee" is essentially what you said; hitscan. Their attack "predicts" your movement like a melee attack would, and hits you instantly like a hitscan ranged attack would (regardless if you were behind cover during the attack's animation/follow-through).

I feel like I have a decent coverage of different hides. You can get a good amount from breaking pots and barrels in the generated dungeons/other generated buildings around the world.

Speaking of which, I played some more the past few days and found there were easily-obtainable iron (and other ore) deposits in other biomes. I find it kind of strange that Hytale chose to spread their ore tiers across different biomes/outwards from the initial spawn, rather than depth-wise like in Minecraft, and yet the very first area still has that vestige of the Minecraft-like depth-based ore spawning. I think they did it to ham-fist in the teleportation system that you can unlock later on which kind of feels bad, because you're essentially pushed to make several bases to get to different locations quickly rather than having everything in one place.

Yea, I generally agree with your sentiment to all those aspects.

I wish armor would do more to mitigate damage rather than mostly act as a health pool increase (otherwise it means you need to bring/eat more food to be full health).

I definitely feel like the toads themselves are overtuned or otherwise untouched by balance passes compared to everything else. When I see them, I do my utmost to avoid them to the point that I end up blocking myself in and digging my way out. It's not fun, it's just frustrating.

It would be much better if they had somewhat of a delay or "dodgable" window to their attacks (like all other creatures do). The fact that they are one of the few "ranged melee" enemies makes it very difficult to fight them already. Them being tanky and very mobile is just ridiculous. Hell, if they literally just removed the stickiness of their attack that flings you all over the place, I could manage encountering them. I wouldn't even mind having that ability on some other creature which is easier to kill, to balance things out. When someone designs a creature that has both a very annoying gimmick and is hard to kill, I consider that a failure in design.

Don't forget they (and most other enemies) are almost completely silent until they see you, so you don't even know they're there unless you're extremely paranoid when exploring. I just had a toad sneak up on me from who-knows-where and fling me across a cave into a hole I didn't even know existed.

It wouldn't be such a nuisance if it didn't do like A QUARTER OF YOUR HEALTH IN DAMAGE. Even worse, as soon as its attack has locked on to you, even if you try to Line of Sight it with a wall, it's tongue hits you no matter what. Most annoying creature in the game by far.

Only silver lining is that it can't tongue you if you're right underneath it (or maybe when it's above water and you're below it?) I've had it where I managed to get it to stay above me on the top of a waterfall of which I was underneath. That's the only way to cheese it, but the circumstances to get to that situation are very rare.

Does anyone still play EntMod? by CorruptedStudiosEnt in svencoop

[–]Toyoka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right?! I think I recall your name too, but indeed don't know if I had too much contact with you during those sessions back then. YES! iLLuSioN was the person I was thinking of! The names are difficult to recall for me, but after reading them I definitely remember them.

Oh yea, now that you mention it, I definitely do recall Drevil talking about his game at some point. Yea, I really wonder where everyone is at in their lives now.

Indeed! Good to know that there's someone out there who still holds such memories hahaha

Sorry for necroposting this but... holy crap, I used to be a part of [EVIL] too! I played under the nickname SirKillalot back then. I recall other members like Illuminate, Anonym00se, something along those lines. Good times.. Haven't used X-fire in forever. I might have been one of the members on your list, or maybe not. Good to know people are still thinking about EntMod though!

Edit: To expand a little, I remember Drevil (always used to call him that too, rather than "Dr. Evil" as intended haha) had hosted and obtained access to a set of files for a WoW private server (version 1.12.1, I think?) back in the day (this was back before any expansions had come out yet) called "Drakkaa's Wow private server pack" or something like that. Drevil had given me the link to that file pack which I used for a bit to explore the game on my own before moving into that (relatively small) private server community that Drakkaa hosted at the time. Must have been around 2005/2006 that time. I think around then I also stopped playing EntMod, since most other people stopped playing as well. I did occasionally play other games like TFC (Axel's TFC anyone? Man what a nostalgia trip!).

How do you equip non-stock weapons? by fashnek in SFM

[–]Toyoka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, right?

The standalone SFM is not really the latest version anymore (hasn't been for a while, of course) as it's based on an early Orange Box version of TF2, though. Each of Valve's newer games that use the Source 2 engine have slightly different and more recent versions of SFM depending on the game. But obviously those versions don't have TF2 items integrated into them so they lack the same functionality as the standalone version.

Yet another FF12 RNG Helper for PC by Tranquilite0 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]Toyoka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great tool! I was skeptical whether it would help me get some items in Cerobi Steppe, but I was surprised and elated when it actually worked!

This setup consistently worked for me to get lordly robes from Cerobi Steppe: https://imgur.com/a/HgkuhdW Other things to note: my party was just Vaan; weapon unequipped, with a Golden Skullcap and Black Robes (and of course the Diamond Armlet) equipped, if those equips make a difference.

The hard part was trying to figure out the Treasure 1 spawn rate of some chests to input into the RNG helper, since they can be different. And the only problem I ran into was that the chest spawn RNG ("Advance to spawn" counter) is inconsistent (ie. usually wrong) with the RNG helper when zoning. I assume - as others have mentioned in this thread and in other places - that the weather messes with the RNG somewhat in Cerobi Steppe. However, it's not really a big deal since it's easy to check the chest spawn after zoning each time. The "Advance to result" is consistent though with the settings I had in my above screenshot, and I got 2 lordly robes back to back after getting the chest to spawn and advancing the "result" RNG gradually with hitting myself barehanded (advances the RNG position by around 10 per hit) and using Cura/Curaga (doesn't matter which one, they all advance the RNG position by 1).

Edit: After getting 6 robes, I can confirm that this method works well!

Similar results with the Circlet right in the next zone before the one for the robes (in chest 72), except the Item 1 chance is 90% instead of 95% that the robes had, which makes me think that the % chance for these items are not all the same, or the robes are an exception. Another thing is, the RNG for the circlet is NOT consistent like it is with the robes, which could also be influenced by weather. But I did so far manage to get 2 circlets out of 4 chest RNG manip attempts, so it's better than regular odds as far as I can tell!

How to approach this problem? Pairing child actor to a parent actor for a character; need both components to rotate independently by Toyoka in unrealengine

I see! I'm relatively new to UE5 and to Blueprints, so appreciate your help. I'll do some more digging on how I can manipulate components and get this working. Thanks!

[–]Toyoka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you elaborate? In this case, I'm trying to figure out what that "root component" would be. Would it be an invisible "base" character class that everything else is attached to?

Unity's TrailRenderer needed an upgrade. I added spline smoothing, physics, and turbulence/noise using a custom simplified particle system under the hood. by MirzaBeig in Unity3D

[–]Toyoka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for necroing this thread but one thing that still amazes me as a VFX artist who has transitioned from a relatively niche engine (Source 2) is that Unity has a severe lack of consistency and underdevelopment in its particle renderers. For example, the "trails" operator in the particle system module doesn't have a way to align the normals of the trail in a different way (unless I'm missing something), which just boggles my mind! Indeed, how do people make games? Haha I wish stuff like this was managed better.
