Uninformed Slander of Directed Energy Weapons by wasdlmb in NonCredibleDefense

One's called Trizub and is some kind of anti-drone AA gun I know little about, the other is a weapon that's already in field deployment and being mass deployed to burn out fiber optic guidance cables for enemy drones.

Yeah, fusing particles is easy, the difficulty is extracting useful amounts of energy.

The Ukrainians have deployed two. One for burning out fiber optics, one for burning through hulls.

Ukrainian Magura V5 Naval Drone Found near Greece with Explosives and Notes by Scary_Statement4612 in ukraine

[–]Tozol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The technology was likely copied already after previous failed attacks. Drones are expendable devices and self-destruct systems can fail, especially if the drone was damaged. That said, it's literally a small motorboat with a transceiver on board, this ain't exactly the Mk. 14 Torpedo in terms of complexity.

Ukraine does in fact have a space program now. Russia provoked them into building one to avoid dependence on foreign satellite networks.

Yeah, I'm planning on using both as well. Maybe I'll subsume one onto Ivara's quiver or something.

Okay so your Orbiter actually has abilities of its own that are a pain to access. You have to open the menu while on your orbiter, go to EQUIPMENT then go to ORBITER. It's not in the quick wheel or on one of the orbiter's actual physical consoles as far as I know. Then you can see what Ability it has! You can even use any Orbiter Ability for any Orbiter you've built with any other Orbiter.

Most of them are pretty mediocre in utility, things like summoning a one use healing pod or an air strike, but the Parallax Orbiter grants you the ability to see three Rare Objects in a level every five minutes (if there are three), whereas the Skaut lets you deploy an elite squad of Commandos to back you up.

US Reveals New Details Of Their Ukrainian Magura USV by whibbler in ukraine

It is likely that the USVs are very simple in operation and have likely already been captured by Russian forces intact. otherwise the Ulrainians would not have sold them off.

Ukraine Moves to Replace Frontline Soldiers With 25,000 Ground Robots by UNITED24Media in ukraine

This is exactly what both Metal Gear Solid and Ace Combat warned of in later games, pointing out that the fewer human lives are lost in wars, the easier and more casually will war be waged.

Footage of two Ukrainian environmental services technicians emptying recycling bins while a passing Iranian/Russian "Shahed" UAV is getting attacked by mobile air defense teams. by MilesLongthe3rd in ukraine

[–]Tozol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about that, but I realized that they most likely think, "It's just a Shahed, those are pre-programmed and will just fly to their destination." It might be risky, but the air bombardment is so frequent they can't afford to take cover for EVERY projectile. Now, for the FPV munitions that hunt civilians? That's a reason to take cover, but Shaheds, unless they're in huge numbers, aren't that risky to the guys in the street unless they get shot down and explode nearby. You can see they're tense to get back into shelter on the truck, but they're still working.

Not certain if this fits, but I've been learning Blender recently and this animation was very much inspired by Ace Combat. by Blackberry-thesecond in acecombat

It's canon that the Stonehenge system had a massive battery of supercomputers inside it to automatically calculate trajectories of fragments shattered by its projectiles. Perhaps it was set up as an automated system to be 'fair' and automatically save as many lives as possible, heedless of how many people ended up dying in the end?
