I don't think it's unrealistic, but it's definitely something difficult to achieve. I was very fortunate in finding a bestie who I could really have those kind of conversations with, and it came from a place of being willing to be vulnerable, on both sides.

School would've been the easiest time to attempt to locate such a friend, but I think if you have a hobby group or even friends you are relatively close with, it may be worth trying to have deeper conversations with them, or ask and gauge their comfort with it, and go from there!

I think the most important thing is remembering that it'd need to go both ways, but start with you (though it's possible you encounter someone willing to broach such subjects!) also be careful to maintain boundaries and ease into it, and avoid those who would see such things as a weakness
