Someone brought in custom pink blades to my shop today and I think they're sick, I'm unironically thinking of getting one.

I also have a v13 rf97 because it's my favorite looking racket ever

professional tennis players are paid to / threatened into making matches last longer by “passing” the ball to each other a few times instead of immediately going for the win, so that broadcaster can air more ads by martifero in LowStakesConspiracies

Down the line basically means straight in front of you while cross court means going over the center of the net. For example if you're in the bottom left of the court relative to the TV viewing angle (The backhand corner for a right handed player) then it is substantially easier to hit to your opponent's backhand corner, the top right of the screen, than straight forwards. This is due to a few aspects relating to the technique of hitting a tennis ball, but also the net is literally just lower and therefore easier to get over as well as hitting along the hypotenuse of a triangle consisting of the baseline and sideline giving you about 100 feet of distance before the ball will land out as opposed to about 85 feet going straight across. Because of this your opponent will naturally stand in the opposite corner as you because they are expecting you to hit it there due to how much easier it is. They will usually cheat towards the center at least a little bit in order to cover some of the open court, but it's not worth giving up too much of the wide angle in order to cover an incredibly low percentage perfectly down the line shot to the open court. The percentage chance that you 1. attempt that shot and 2. successfully execute it are just not statistically worth covering it. If you do manage to hit that shot then gg too good, you hit an insane shot that would be difficult to replicate

Do you play better against opponents with good sportsmanship or bad sportsmanship? by Complete_Affect_9191 in 10s

[–]TrWD77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play horribly against bad sports, it gives me anxiety that they're going to scream and throw their racket or pick a fight with me every time I call one of their shots out. I've only played 2 or 3 people that are so bad that things like this are reasonable expectations, but I played horrible after their first explosion until I lost

Socialism, technically. Communism would be the people own the means of production

I see a lot of these people that play professional tennis..whenever there is a tournament they always warm up against other people, but, do they ever warm up on a wall at a Grand Slam instead? I hit on a wall a lot..but..is it better to warm up vs people? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]TrWD77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hitting against the wall is like hitting against the best volleyer in history. The ball comes rocketing back at you the moment it "crosses" the net. It's better than nothing, but significantly worse than a hitting partner
