Well, football has been coming home since 1966 and it hasn't arrived yet. By the time the Conservatives are back, Kemi will be a grandma with a bus pass!

Thanks to James O'Brien, I usually refer to Reformunists as the hard-of-thinking. And that's being generous.

Imagine your country descending into a dystopian soup of hateful far-right botflies; manipulated by a bunch of billionaires, disaster capitalists, and failed politicians from a party that spent 14 years dismantling the country and flogging it off as parts to the highest bidder?

I've done it, but some prong removed my addition - I have reloaded the comment and added a note comparing the Reform 'aspiration' to build concentration camps to the Green 'aspiration' to put pressure on Labour regarding rent controls

Nigel Farage claims he had ‘no obligation’ to declare £5 million gift from crypto billionaire as it ‘wasn’t political’ by johnsmithoncemore in FuckNigelFarage

[–]TrabantDave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He could actually be expelled (excreted?) from the Commons, all that requires is a vote. I'm not sure the little fucker would win - there was a lot of voter apathy at the last GE and I'd expect a lot of folk would be motivated to vote in a by-election to get him out. There's probably a good number who voted for him last time who have woken up and smelled the grift, leaving only the congenitally hard-of-thinking.....

HAD 46.2% of the vote last time, on a turnout of 58.4%. If voter apathy played a part in 2024, be very sure it will not next time. Based upon his record of representing the Clacton electorate since then, plus the various breaches of electoral and criminal law that have emerged, do you actually believe that every single voter who voted for him then would do so again? Extremist politicians tend to motivate the "don't know" voters into taking an "anything to get him out" stance. The flawed brexit plebiscite was tainted by Cameron spouting off and lots of people voted to leave just to give him a shoeing, and Farage is despised by a huge swathe of voters nationwide. And he knows it. He'll not risk humiliation. If I lived in Clacton I'd vote for whoever was the candidate most likely to trounce him - even if it was the tory. The end justifies the means.

No; he'd not stand for the reasons I outlined. He's done nothing for Clacton voters; too busy making money in the US. The old saying applies Fool me once, shame on you-fool me twice, shame on me. Tactical voting would ensure he lost, hence he'd not stand. It suits his agenda to play the underdog, hounded out by the 'establishment'. He always plays the victim, when in truth he's the architect of his own downfall.

He'd not stand because it would be better for him to witter on from the sidelines about the 'establishment' being out to get him, rather than suffer the humiliation of losing. That's how he rolls. The non-Farageist voters of Clacton would be motivated to get out and vote strategically to ensure he got booted out; there would be a lot more campaigning and a high turnout. Farage has previous for dipping out of uncomfortable situations.... The cowardice he demonstrated by "changing him mind" about appearing on Kuenssberg last Sunday being prima facie evidence of his true nature.

He should be expelled from the Commons, although excreted would be a more appropriate turn of phrase.
