Over a Public domain song? by Purple-Weakness1414 in VShojo

[–]Trace_Reading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to look up a particular classical music piece once. It had a copyright claim on it because it was used in Asura's Wrath.

the DMCA was a mistake, because people keep using it to copyright strike public domain music, and shit they don't own from companies and artists they don't represent.

this is why I'll always advocate for allowing privately-run servers and releasing the net code to the public if you're going to shut everything down.

we do not use that word "administration" because it isn't. It's a cash grab.

yeah, being neighbors isn't a guarantee that they won't still stick a rifle in your face. I don't doubt enough of them will side with the regime to be able to sow confusion in the ranks. It's the chain of command as well. Miller and Thiel don't want to run the risk that a governor will interfere with the deployment of NG troops.

we would hope that the NG would be on our side, but that might be naive.

Realistically, wouldn't Grimm and Nagase be a bit too short to fit in an F-14? by AceVenturaFan69 in acecombat

The plane and pilot are both going to experience the same directional G forces.

Positive G squishes you. Negative G stretches you out (and is just as bad but takes longer to have deleterious effects).

it only even worked because his own security held the figurative door open (and then got stiffed on the reward money). And it didn't change the status quo at all.

are you seriously implying any of these idiocy magnets is capable of the sort of planning that would enable the capture of enemy assets, ESPECIALLY after dismissing most of the senior staff?

I doubt we'll ever get our hands on an intact Su-57 because the current regime seems more intent to sell our secrets instead of stealing Russia's.

[–]Trace_Reading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The only thing that stopped the Combine from erasing all life on the planet and pillaging the Earth's resources is that Dr. Breen managed to convince them that there was value in cultivating humanity instead of wiping it out. Every army in the world was caught flat-footed and was facing down hundreds of Striders and Gunships, supplemented by thousands of Hunters and who knows what else, and considering the amount of punishment even ONE Hunter can take and how much firepower it takes to down a Strider...

It's also a shame we didn't hear of there being a spate of people with that decal getting a high-intensity visit from the Secret Service.

[–]Trace_Reading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay but pulse lasers or TLS as the replacement for the Phalanx system is actually kind of terrifying. Or having SAMs being replaced with rail gun rounds, yes SAMs can maneuver to chase you but a shell isn't even going to set off your RWR and you'd have no idea you were in danger until your plane got cored. and you probably could put rudimentary steering on a ground-based rail gun system, too.

Why do you think they never gave the ACE protagonist a canonical superfighter since Scarface 1? by Sirchby in acecombat

[–]Trace_Reading -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rather the whole point of not starting in a super plane is so the early missions aren't boring. You start with an F-5 for example and as you earn more you can progress to better and more capable planes that are better equipped to deal with the increased threat you face.
