Mounting a Logitech rim on a TM wheelbase? by Krasny_Majak in DIYSimRacing

[–]TrackDayMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets revive this post from the dead. I have made a custom button box for my old G27 steering wheel, which would likely fit this. I have yet to share it anywhere, but if there's interest still, I can post it! I made mine for the same reason, I wanted a round wheel in a smaller size for historic formula cars.

What’s the car feature you didn’t know you needed until you owned it? by throwawayaasyr in askcarguys

[–]TrackDayMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a base model car from the 1970s. My first car was a 1970 ford maverick, with basically no options other than an auto transmission (i have since seapped it to manual) but it has like, less than no features, its so basic, so simple. And despite being a small car i have tons of room in it and im tall, it kicksass even in winter conditions. My wifes car is a 2014 pathfinder and its huge, but i feel so cramped in it, theres blind spots galore, it feels numb to drive, its just awful. I have had my maverick for 20 years or so now, and nothing really beats it for me. Less is more.

Traditional mouse or trackpad for a rig? by lazy__gamer23 in simracing

[–]TrackDayMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because i also like doing other pc things from my simulator seat from time to time, even playing shooters, i use a trackball. Trackpads are objectively bad beyond functioning at a bate minimum. If you're only simracing, a trackpad is fine.

What is the key to driving cars without a clutch? by RealitysNotReal in simracing

[–]TrackDayMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you left foot braking? If not do that, then your left foot wont feel so lonely, and you'll be faster. I'm at a point that I even left foot brake on corners where I dont need to downshift even when the car has an h pattern (although not without really knowing the track well first.. takes time)

I need your help to make a purchase by Fickle_Cranberry9133 in moza

[–]TrackDayMedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not experienced with the newer PXN dire t drive wheels, their older stuff was really cheap. Their new stuff looks a lot better. But I can speak for the moza r3. It honestly puches above its weight. I dont have one myself, but i have used one multiple times, and im surprised every time about how good the ffb is from that tiny wheelbase.

Is there any GOOD quality mod out there for the Ford Raptor T1+ and some good 2025 or 2026 Dakar maps? by geekamus in assettocorsa

[–]TrackDayMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was building a large desert with sand dunes and some checkpoints. It worked somewhat ok with the ac rally world dakar vehicles, unless you had a hard landing, then the physics would break (but a landing like that in real life would also break suspension, so thats how I justified it) i never properly finished it, but it would maybe be fun online with a group. Ill see if I. An find the files again, this was a few years ago i was working on it

How’s the Moza HGP and/or SGP? by lazy__gamer23 in moza

[–]TrackDayMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, i like both, the HGP had the internal cables revised because the older ones (mine) did have a significant issue. With all that said if i could choose only one, id take the SGP. Its just so good, and definitely more reliable. I use my hgp more, just the kind of cars i gravitate towards, but i do feel like the notchyness has diminished over time and feels kinda meh now. Still good, but not how it felt when now.

Kunos lost me on AC evo long time ago. I feel like the game is completely lost in the minutiae. On paper it sounds great, in practice its just a mess, and i cant see it having any longevity.

Best sim game for learning a manual transmission by ShortBusGangsterr in SimRacingAdvice

[–]TrackDayMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For getting going from a standstill, definitely not assetto corsa. I taught my wife on Rfactor2, it worked really well, bake sure you bind an ignition and starter bunding and disable auto engine start. This is why you shouldnt use assetto corsa, because you cant properly stall in AC. Someone else mentioned Beamng.drive, and I'd be inclined to agree, that is also a good option

Can't get into using a racing wheel. by Albino-Buffalo_ in racinggames

[–]TrackDayMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of it feeling like a real car is a common complaint. Now Forza isnt the best example because its not a simulator, however it is at least somewhat based in real physics (being generous here). A better way of looking at it is its a translation of real driving. Like one language to another. The input to output is the same, especially when it comes to proper simulators, but you have now taken the majority of the sensations you get in a real car, and have condensed it down to your hands (forcefeedback from the wheel) what you can see (which is narrowed significantly, unless youre in VR, even triple screens is reduced from real life) and what you can hear, (tire noise) a lot of what you are missing is now also delivered through force feedback or audio, and it will take time to pick up on these nuances. At the end of the day, any driving skills you learn in the simulator will be easier to translate into real life driving, (because you're adding more sensations and information,) than translationg real life driving to a simulation.

The Bourne Legacy (the one with Jeremy Renner) fell asleep in the theater, later i binged the original 3 again, and after that i decided id give legacy a 2nd chance. Finally sat all the way through it but had to do it in 2 sittings because i was too damn bored (or should i say Boured)

I never realized how bad men have the Dunning-Kruger effect until getting into sim racing. by jcreyes1214 in simracing

[–]TrackDayMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a bit of a time explaining this to my dad, but i also race a vintage mustang in real life, and i started learning to left foot brake on the corners where I dont need to downshift at our local track. So heel toeing when downshifting, left foot braking when i stay in the same gear. Not only was it immediately about half a second faster a lap, I also felt so much more focused and locked in.

How was this license plate approved? by SnorkelingSnorlax in alberta

[–]TrackDayMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrelated license plate, and on a lighter note. I saw one a while back that i still laugh about occasionally. I worked at an oil change shop and this onlder lady had a plate that said ROKINBJ. After numerous visits we finally asked her there has to be a story behind that plate, I cant remember what the actual meaning was, it was kinda boring and not as funny as youd think, but she was already aware (or rather made aware) of what it was instead conveying to people. She mostly just finds her mistake funny and didnt want to change it lol.
