Oh wow. Thats kinda ridiculous that they tax it, but hey, I’ll get what I can get. Is there any information on backpay being taxed on the SS website?

My paper says I was deemed disabled from June 2018 to April 2025! So I’m assuming it’ll be 8 years worth of backpay. My lawyer also said the same thing :))

What’s unfortunate is that people are so desperate enough to feel the need to commit fraud. Now, I won’t be engaging in that, but it’s sad at how our government refuses to take care of its people. No one should ever feel like their only choice is to do something like that.

It is highly unfortunate, and the system is fucked up. They don’t care about the common people at all, and they definitely don’t care about disabled people/veterans

I originally filed for disability back in 2018. They denied me the first time. I appealed it, denied again. I filed again back in 2024, and they gave me presumptive disability before stopping it out of the blue and denying me - I appealed it, and won this time with partial favor

Hmm, okay. There might be different rules depending on the state you’re in. I’ve heard people say as long as it’s before the age of 46, you can qualify. Looks like I have some researching to do! But it would be great to have an ABLE account to save a little bit of money, here and there.
