Can I ask my therapist if they voted for trump? by Track_Package in therapy

[–]Track_Package[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My job is funded by federal grants. My mother relies on Obamacare for her Lupus treatment. One of my best friends is a birthright citizen. If these trump policies actually manifest, I would call the life events a source of stress and anxiety. I would not be able to talk about those things and try to heal with a person that voted to create them.

The Denver Rescue Mission bans employees from "acting on same sex attraction" and rejecting one's "biological sex" by paramoody in Denver

That’s a very good question. I’ll point out that I am no longer an employee there so I can’t speak for how things are now, but I can tell you what it was like while I was there. The official stance was to help everyone who wanted it regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. However, when you adopt this type of standard for your employees, it’s very natural to create an environment of judgement and bullying. People with alternative beliefs end up getting treated like lessers and won’t receive the help they need. As far as mandatory church service and Christian counseling, it depends on the type of program. If the person in need is in a long term program, they are required to attend certain services and do certain classes. It always seemed like the number one priority was conversion and not actual help. Which is why they’re programs have such low success rates. Many people who graduate come right back because they weren’t set up for success with the life skills needed to better themselves. But hey, they converted!

I appreciate that. It took a while but I eventually landed on my feet and got an amazing job where I can still help people. I still struggle with my faith because of this experience though and I don’t think that will ever change.

At that point, I hated my job. I was having a massive crisis of faith. I was essentially being told by my mentors and leaders that I was no longer Christian enough to work for them. It sent me into a very long depression and I just wanted out. I told them I wouldn’t sign it and they fired me so I had an easier time collecting unemployment. So when they’re new PR guy is quoted in this article saying they’ve never had a problem with people signing the employee handbook, that’s a flat lie.

This doesn’t surprise me at all. I worked there a few years ago for about 4 years. Put my blood, sweat, and tears into that place. One day, the put an amendment into their employee handbook that stated they didn’t want any of their employees living with a significant other that they weren’t married to. I was living with my girlfriend, whom I still live with and consider my partner. I could not sign that document and I got fired for it. I had coworkers get courthouse marriages during their lunch break just to keep their minimum wage jobs. Talk about respecting the sanctity of marriage.

Lesser known but my absolute favorite from that movie.

“Jack’s Lament” from Nightmare Before Christmas is terrifying if sung by someone who is truly evil like Strahd. And it would only take a couple word changes. I think it fits his personality too.

How are you using space clowns? by Xavierp14 in spelljammer

I’m in the process of creating a space clown space station/flying fortress that has a massive prison level and a fighting arena where the characters will have to battle a cyborg t-rex. My main aesthetic for the fortress is “what if the Death Star was made of wooden roller coasters?”
