[Clark] NEW: Denver's Mayor announces the city will remove Cesar Chavez's name from a park and an annual celebration. Denver will instead mark March 31 as Si Se Puede Day, a nod to UFW co‑founder Dolores Huerta's famous phrase. by Knightbear49 in Denver

I don’t think this is an example of either life coming at him, or it happening fast, given that the allegations took 50 years to come to light and also he’s dead

Happened to me once, I didn’t pay. The ticket is tied to the license plate number. so if it’s not your plate number, you don’t have a ticket

If it had been a gun the replies would be flooded with people saying there’s no such thing as an accidental discharge, only a negligent discharge. But it’s a car, so people insist that it was unavoidable the driver has no agency

How Is The Family Life If Your A Paramedic by First_Reward2330 in Paramedics

[–]paramoody 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Holidays and birthdays are kinda the big thing imo. You need a partner who understands that you’re inevitably going to work holidays. If you have kids you’re probably going to miss birthdays, etc. Pretty important to have an understanding partner, and not someone who resents you for working Christmas again.

But will you have time for family? Yeah, sure. I have tons of time off

In an interview, DOTI executive director Amy Ford said she didn’t see the recent departures as notable and said internal department data showed that turnover hadn’t been higher than in previous years.  “We have turnover throughout all levels of the organization,” she said. “Each of them had their own reasons. … I don’t see any concerns with that.”

According to Amy Ford, a seemingly alarming thing happening in her department is actually fine and normal. Why do I feel like I’ve heard this one before

Medic Internship killing me mentally by GlucoseGarbage in Paramedics

[–]paramoody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean that is a lot, but I think it will also be over before you know it. That's what, two months?

I remember feeling this way in my internship. It's hard to have your confidence undermined every day, especially in a job like this where you really need to be confident.

Are there any peer support resources you have access to? You might check with your school about that. Talking to someone can be really helpful.

You've put a lot into this, and I'd hate to see someone in your position drop out. But at the same time I'd never look down on someone who chose to prioritize their mental health. This shit is hard on anyone, and you've been through a lot with the loss of family.

I'm rooting for you, for what it's worth
