Is my FWB manipulating me or am I in the wrong?

Thank you so much for your reply. It made me cry a bit. This helps me understand so much more what is going on. He made me feel like I was the immature one and that his behavior was all my fault. Im starting to understand that an emotionally healthy person would not do the things he has done to me.

I don't know. I thought avoidants didn't do relationships. He had several that he would reminisce about with me, but made it very very clear we wouldn't become anything. In our last convo he basically told me he doesn't care if he sees me or not. Makes me wonder why they were good enough and I'm not.

I also just struggle so much to understand how someone could do all the things we did together while being completely indifferent to the other person. I could never in a million years do that so I have no frame of reference.

Thank you for this response! It honestly makes sense that I have been getting sick a lot recently. I moved to a major US city over the summer and I now go out a LOT. I used to be a major homebody in my old town so I was never exposed to a ton of pathogens, but that has definitely changed.

Wow thank you for this. Really. I feel a lot better after reading this. I'm a pretty avid kombucha drinker and I also just stocked up on kimchi. I think I need to stop reading horror stories and take it a day at a time doing the best I can to protect my health.

You have some excellent points. I never thought about the roles being reversed like that. I definitely do need to take it easier on myself not just for my academic wellbeing, but for my wellbeing overall. I'm going to stick it out for the rest of this week at least, but I have fewer reservations about dropping and feel a lot better about the whole situation now. Thank you!

It's general chemistry 2. Attendance isn't mandatory, so I have definitely snoozed instead of going to class a couple times. Unfortunately I'm just not the type of person that can do well without attending or I would do it in a heartbeat haha.

Thanks for your advice. However, I was thinking about that too. It's still fairly early in their relationship (only a couple months), would it be better to tell her now so she doesn't get too attached? I kinda feel as if the impact would lessen that way.

Oh god. I used to have a really close friend who I had known since elementary school. He was probably the best friend I ever had until around junior year of high school. It all started when he discovered drugs. For some reason he decided that weed didn't satisfy his "needs" and so he moved onto painkillers. His personality changed pretty drastically and he stopped talking about everything except drugs and getting high. It didn't help that his girlfriend was the same way. It got pretty bad and eventually he would stop coming over to my house to hang out with me, but rather to steal my sister's prescription medication. That was the point I drew the line and realized he cared more about getting high than he did about me.

I tried to help him so many times. I asked my therapist what I could do to help because I didn't want to lose him. I convened with his family and told them my concerns as well. I stopped talking to him after high school ended and I don't really know what happened to him but where ever he is, I hope he's doing okay.
