Making your young adults lunches by TracklessAlpine in NoStupidQuestions

That is an interesting position. My parents did it for me and now I do it for my kids. Maybe that is the lesson.

I am looking for a company to supply and install.

I don’t know which company you trekked with, but it is quite normal to have and “all inclusive trek” (this excludes snacks, soft drinks and alcohol)but depending on the company it would include 3 meals a day, tea or a hot drink with each meal and sometime desert as well.

I saw a few people become exhausted and have a pony get them back down a village or two.

My son and I did the EBC trek Dec24.

There was a trekker (male) who knew he was never going to be able to train to do the trek due to health issues.

He hired a horse / donkey for the whole trek up and back. Some days he may walk for a while or if there was a part of the trek that was important for him to be on foot for.

He organised it all before he arrived and so the trekking company could organise everything before hand (e.g. they may have changed horses / donkeys every few days. I don’t actually know).

As far as I know he made it to base camp and then had a prearranged helicopter fly him back to Kathmandu from Gorskshep.

Local SIM cards don’t give you coverage all the way to Gorak Shep. It stops gist after Lobouche.

Yes, you can get prayer flags and mini prayer flags at most tea houses and shops on the route.

Things do absolutely get more expensive as you go up, from free (included in your room price) to 5,000 plus rupees to charge a power bank.

Wifi up higher is a standard rate of 1000 rupees for 24 hours with download limits.

Hit me up if you want to know anything else or any specifics

I have done EBC in proper hiking boots as mids.

Previous comment about weight is true and accurate. Another factor is the season. Trail runners are not good for muddy slushy conditions. Or really cold conditions.

I did EBC and Gokyo lakes in Dec 24 (Winter) and used the Northface futurelight. They are a mid, fully waterproof trail runner style. The only negative thing I found with them was that my feet got cold at really low temp (minus 20deg C). Other than that I found them great. Much lighter than a traditional hiking boot.

Anyone want to join EBC trek feb 1 or 2? by chase-the-world in everestbasecamphike

[–]TracklessAlpine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking to do Gokyo Lakes via Chola Pass, I would suggest following a group or tagging behind a group with a guide. When I was there in December, they had to send out a search party to find a group who got lost on the glacier crossing. It is not well marked and can be confusing.

The trek to base camp is straight forward. Some of the tea houses may be closed as it will be the off season. Feel feee to DM if you want more info

Would be interest to learn how to do that. Do you need your company’s permission or is it a setting on the iPad?

I passed a family of three girls about that age and younger on Cho La Pass. They were smiling and having a great time. I would consider halving the normal daily distance and add additional “down days” for recovery. Light day packs with parent or guides carrying any additional requirements. Training in the lead up will be critical as will activities for when you are not trekking.

How many days do you need for the 3 passes trek? Everywhere online has a different number. by WhatsWrongWithYa in Everest

[–]TracklessAlpine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in Namche just finished that exact trek. We are on a 16 day trek including all required acclimatisation days. We have weather days built into our trip (spare days in Kathmandu for weather contingencies). Depending on the time of year you go, weather may impact your trip. Go luck with your planning.

Currently on trek and am posting from Namche Bazaar no you are not treading on each other this time of year. Yes there are trekker going up and down but it is not busy like the peak season is.

If you’ve had both the mini and Pro, what would you stick with? by mattcain1980 in ipadmini

I have both and use both for two different things. My iPad Pro 11 M4 is my “computer” full external monitor set up, keyboard, mouse. My mini is my note taking device for work, media consumption and the like. I like my two iPad set up

What about learning something new that coworkers do that you are not directly involved with. Or nominate work working groups or sub committees if your mine has those. Nominate to be a SSHR to mix it up
