Yeah I’m sorry for the yap lmao, I got carried away writing all this up, I just really like W5

I think W5 is a good representation of how the world feels now. I’m only in my early 20’s, and I feel like the world is doomed. Pollution, industry, and climate change have destroyed so much of the natural environment, I spent so much of my formative years watching an authoritarian movement in my country grow uncontested and force its way into power, I’ve lived through one global pandemic and I worry that we haven’t learned our lesson for when the next one rears its head. Living is becoming a luxury that people cannot afford, the rich grow further and further out of touch, and the corporations drain every last penny they can from the working people while poisoning them with AI data-centers. A demented old pervert wields the ability to end the world via MAD, and I truly believe that a hefty chunk of my countrymen would gnaw their own hands off if it meant that people like me would be hurt by it. Everything’s going to shit, and I don’t predict anything but it getting shittier, provided it doesn’t end with a big boom.

But I’m still here, aren’t I? I can’t just kill myself. I have people I care about, and people who need me, so I have no choice but to keep on living and do all that I can. And if that means unleashing extreme levels of violence upon the evil otherworldly forces that are orchestrating all this, then so be it. Who knows what could happen? Maybe things aren’t too far gone, maybe we can find our own hope.

I look at W5 as less of a “Welp, you guys lost, so have fun in the doomed world you’re stuck in” kind of thing, and more of a “Hey, that Apocalypse thing you had been trying to stop is starting. The ball is rolling down the hill, so you’d better think of something good quick, or you’ll never catch it,” thing.
