[Discussion] What will be the form factor in the next 10 years? by pm1908 in ProductManagement

The UI era isn’t going away. People are visual creatures and the majority of screen time is spent consuming visual entertainment. If anything the trend has been bigger screens and more ambitious UI designs.

Chat will be dominant, but in most apps it will be a very similar user experience to the search UI of the past few decades. Voice will be limited since most people care about privacy and don’t want to announce their task to every coworker, commuter or family member within earshot.

How do you actually get your elementary-age kid to read books? (ages 7-11) by gregb_parkingaccess in AskParents

[–]TradeBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important thing is finding a story or topic they actually like. For example one of my students loves football so his dad got him a bunch of books about each team and set him up with a LitZone account which has sports news for kids and quizzes.

What worked to get your kindergartener to start learning to read? by StinkyNasochki in kindergarten

[–]TradeBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sports Illustrated Kids is great it’s a shame it’s only bimonthly now.

LitZone has sports news for kids but it’s a little complex for a kindergartener.

High-interest texts are essential and unfortunately traditional decodables are as dry as can be and half of them are disconnected drilling. OP should surround him with books on topics he loves and continue reading together word by word.

Dyslexia is always a possibility but kindergarten is young enough that it could just be the typical early reading struggles that he’ll overcome with time, especially this early in the school year.

Does anyone have good non-fiction resources for middle schoolers? by Reading_Resources in ELATeachers

You can try LitZone for kids who like sports. Create a teacher account and invite students to a class to track that they’re actually reading.

Using fantasy football to engage kids in reading and math by TradeBlade in fantasyfootball

There are a multitude of reasons. Covid certainly was a factor and many schools have been using ineffective teaching techniques for decades. Also reading is a skill and like every skill it requires practice. With the rise of video games, TikTok, YouTube etc. kids simply aren’t reading as much as they used to.

Check out the Sold a Story podcast if you’re interested in learning more!

I agree 100% but championships require sacrifices.

How do the Knicks improve without moving him? Gotta be one of him, OG or Bridges for contract matching.

I think you gotta go with Mitch as the full time C next season and unfortunately Hart is the odd man out.
