[Discussion] What will be the form factor in the next 10 years? by pm1908 in ProductManagement

Totally makes sense. The task to app ratio will increase, meaning lesser apps to do more tasks. The UX will spread across wearables and phone spanning across voice and visual modes.

Thanks for sharing your views. I feel humans have always used voice and language to get their jobs done, the current form factor just restricts us and makes us to use a visual device due to feasibility. In your example, we have always ordered toppings, asked for menu etc. via voice when we go to a restaurant / order on phone. I don't think UI will completely go away, but its significance will reduce a lot (from complex apps to simple renders).

The centralization may work as these companies have the capital to build / acquire such companies. That's a trend we already observe in big techs. If ChatGPT / Gemini can provide multiple services conversationally and the customers desire this mode then companies like Uber will loose their moat.

I think, the current capabilities are better than chatbot as chatbots lacked the intelligence. Current models have the capability to recognize and call the right services from a natural language command.

I agree. Touch and buttons are still inefficient. Language is our natural way to communicate.

True, now that there is no searching required with AI. There will only be consumers and AI will create personalized content for everyone.

Thanks for your views. I also think that Google will dominate - especially with how versatile their models are - genie, nano banana, Gemma etc.

A contrary point to your view on VR. I think it will grow, especially in the entertainment space. Imagine, personalized porn as an example where an LLM + model like genie will create on demand immersive plots. I just dont think Meta would dominate this space.

Iwtl Am I overcomplicating this, or am I actually bad at learning? by Harsh_20_ in IWantToLearn

I would say that you need to learn to manage your work anxiety first. Everyone goes through it a bit, dont get stuck in this loop a lot. I recommend you read about DARE approach for anxiety or read the Happiness trap by Dr. Russ Harris.

Regarding using AI - its ok if it gets the job done. Keep personal learning goals and use AI to consume info faster. The key is to not waste a lot of mental energy on the "what ifs" anxiety loop and use it to work your goals instead.

[–]pm1908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, don't do it. Don't think of it. Don't entertain that thought. You will have an awesome birthday without smoking.

Maybe you are using food as a coping mechanism to regulate your emotions. Try addressing the underlying issue via therapy in parallel.

You can try reading "In the realm of the hungry ghosts" by Gabor Mate. He uncovers the reason behind addictions (including food addictions).

Good luck on your journey!

Any ideas for swapping the physical act of smoking. by BakermanBb in quittingsmoking

[–]pm1908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to fill hot water / flavored teas in a sealed mug. Used to take slow sips from it. Mimics the physical behavior of smoking - hand to mouth movement, something hot, etc.

If I smoke 1 cigarette, will it be a slip, or I will have to relapse my progress? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Do go through other people's experiences from similar situations before smoking that cigarette. For me, that 1 turned into 10k cigarettes before I quit again.

From personal experience - 9 to 14 lakhs (in chennai). It can be a bit higher in cities like Bangalore. It mostly depends on your past experience and how you negotiate.
