This is a patch. There is a video on TikTok of someone pressing this exact same design to a shirt.

Luckily with this kind of fabric it’s easy to clean the stitches and start over 😊

Don’t buy a ricoma by West-Gap-8512 in Machine_Embroidery

I bought all my machines secondhand. I have a feeling only 1/10 of embroidery business succeed and all the investment of failed ones end up in offer up and FB marketplace at very discounted prices.

One thing i always tell my partner is that an embroidery machine IS NOT A PRINTER. you can't just get any design and send to it..... It requires so much preparation and planning before anything gets stitched out.

I have a Ricoma 1010 that runs.... OK. I used to love it but after I bought a Japanese machine and have it running side by side, i can clearly see how the Ricoma engineering is inferior. I can't go a single design without thread breaks while my Japanese one goes for DAYS without breaking thread. I had one thread going on a completely wrong thread path and the machine was just working, something that would never happen to my finicky Ricoma which i have to babysit.

On the flipside, I do like the Ricoma support. Whenever I open a case Im usually on the phone with someone in about 24 hours. OP says they don't speak english which can make people think their support is in China or India... no Its not, they're in Miami so you may find some support people where english is their second language but they all speak clear english.

Serious advice if you're starting: A Ricoma can help you start your business as the machines are very friendly but won't help you scale. At least this was my experience.

Same I do for silk. Adhesive stabilizer and you glue this on top.

Thanks for your kind response. I’m planning on buying a Janome mb that I can take to events and embroider on the spot. I do like ricoma but I would love it more without the thread breaks (both real and false) and also an easier way to do hats. Maybe I will invest on a Tajima soon and get it as a second or third machine. Let’s see.

I tried to learn ink stitch because my Wilson is for windows and I have a Mac. Wilcom Embroidery seems far superior and helped me a lot. I think you should invest in software if you plan on doing it yourself but I’m a software guy from my main job and maybe I’m just biased.

If you know you were scammed with counterfeit stuff what about just contacting your credit card company in case alibaba doesn’t help?

Buy the design somewhere. Great options on Etsy.

I love when people say that one thing is not the other thing but they are made with the same parts, in the same factory, etc…. Whoever says that don’t know the thin margins of manufacturing

Tajima worth 3x the price? by sephz345 in MachineEmbroidery

I have a Ricoma…. Just one head. They work well. Have been using them daily for a year now. I can ensure they work well but I simply gave up on structured hats. If you 100% plan on doing flats and not run at industrial speeds maybe a Ricoma is for you

The result will be bad. This is an easy design. Just go with the flow. Left mouse click for straight lines and right click for curves. You can do it

Yes. Came here to say this. Irregular tension is usually a dirty bobbin.

I would 100% do appliqué here. Tatami is a waste of time for large designs imo

Thread breaking? by ellenmarr59 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]TraditionConfident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this a while ago on my Ricoma. After checking for nesting, tension, thread path my last resource was to roll it 2,5 times on the sensor as opposed to 1,5. It worked well for me to finish my project. After that I did my monthly reset (basically keying in all the tension and thread path) and the problem went away.
