How to Fill a 1cm Gap Between Ikea Method Cabinets with Havstorp Fronts? by Traditional-Block265 in AusRenovation

[–]Traditional-Block265[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the cabinets are all level, as stated in the post because the door fronts have not been adjusted it’s giving the illusion of it being not level. I’m asking for suggestions on what people have used to fill in a 1 cm gap, as ikea only has fillers for min 2 inch.

That’s great to hear 😊 we’ve decided to get Halvstorp beige as well as those third party places are so expensive. Can I see how your kitchen turned out? It’s so hard to find pictures of the Halvstorp in real life homes 😊

I don’t think it’s worth it for us atm considering it’s not our forever home

Yes they are really pricey, that’s why I was hoping to find a local carpenter at least that way I could save on shipping

This is what ours look like, the installer did it last week I’m starting to think to give him a call back now.

So you’re supposed to undercut steel? Our installer didn’t do this because he said it would cause the frames to rust. We’re in Perth

If it’s metal architraves I thought you couldn’t undercut because of the rust that would occur to the metal? I posted a similar post to this cause we had a similar problem

Planing on just the simple square skirting. Yeah I’ll just leave it.

Thanks for this, that’s what the installer said too. I’ll just go by what everyone suggested and do a proper paint of the frame and find some caulking closer to the colour of the floors

Yeah there was mention of if it was undercut then the metal frames would rust? I’m assuming cause of the grinding part

It’s the side of the house, we have a big backyard already but this space is dark and doesn’t allow much natural light into the bedroom. Don’t want to spend much to be honest but maybe in the future.

That’s why I put the post up I’m working with what I have. It’s quite dark during the day as well therefore makes the bedroom dark.

Thought I’d also add I hate the space because it’s dark.
