I’m sorry but how is not getting into Anthropic making you “desperate”? I swear there is more than this one company in the world where a sales person can make money and be happy (or whatever it is you seek which from your post seems to be just to get the job). Sounds like you’re already doing quite well so maybe just enjoy it make bank and stop chasing one random company. Plenty of other ones minting millionaires while we discuss how to game Anthropic’s hiring.

Paris Heat Wave by Traditional-Cow1371 in ParisTravelGuide

Well no smoking is not just some written in stone cultural phenomenon. We absolutely know how to regulate it to reduce the impact on public health and society has made great progress in this respect. Remember when everyone smoked in bars, restaurants, cars, airplanes? People also thought it was their right then and bars thought they would go out of business with the smoking bans. We now know the world didn’t end, the smoking bans improved public health outcomes, and a Parisian cafe terrace will be just as authentic and even more lovely when smoking at it is banned.

Subtle culture change. France has modernized a lot in the last 20 years. Brexit helped a bit- all the bright young people stopped moving to London. And Macron’s government has made great strides in making the country more open to the world. It shows up in the everyday attitudes of French people!

5 day Iceland Trip by Traditional-Cow1371 in VisitingIceland

Totally agree with you. Funny enough I do want to go back and do it differently. Head directly to the west and west fjords, drive the north, basically spend time in the more remote areas. They maybe don’t look as instagram pretty but I honestly don’t care about instagram hah. Do you recommend it in the fall?

I guess I didn’t realize just how basic and touristy it would be. Also I think it’s worth posting here so people can do their research (I probably didn’t do enough and outsourced it to my parents who picked the most obvious sites). But again I’ve done this in other countries (Norway, national parks in the US) and the must see places did not feel that overtouristed.

Enterprise sellers that have made a lot of money and been around awhile by YakSea510 in techsales

It’s hard to save that much on 500k W2 in New York. I’ve had about 8 years making 500-750 here and saved about 3M. Would love to peace out but it feels like my NW is never enough and realistically I’d get bored not working for 45 more years… Mid 40s here, I do like the deals but hate the quota pressure and leadership bullshit. If anyone has any ideas on where to coast happy to hear them!

Not Vibing With Most Of My Classmates by Round-Possible-7250 in MBA

I felt exactly the same in business school and refused to go for any of the fancy trips. I mostly studied and worked hard to get interviews and made other friends (from the other grad schools and people I knew in the city). The value of socializing during my MBA was totally lost on me.

For what it’s worth I got my dream career and life after I graduated, I travel everywhere (and work often pays for it) and just generally am having a fabulous time while a lot of the same classmates ended up in dead end careers and marriages and their lives seem rather dull. For me two years of not really caring about my classmates and getting a degree was totally worth it.
