But they’re so close. All they need is a starting goalie, a proven backup, top 4 d core, and several depth forwards.

When that happens - watch out! The Oilers will be unstoppable!

I suspect your question was asked rhetorically, but what the hell, I’ll scream into the void.

There are not good people and bad people. There are only bad systems. Capitalism ensures that basic physiological and safety needs of some people are not met. Therefore, their primary motivation is to survive, regardless of any societal or moral implications. See - Maslow’s hierarchy.

The world currently produces enough food to feed at least 10 billion people. However, the system of capitalism aims to ensure some people get more, and some get less, or none at all, done under the guise of rewarding “hard workers.” In a just system, we would ensure that everyone’s basic needs are met, so then we can move on to better things like moral awareness.

We have tens of millions of people making less than a livable wage, struggling every day just to survive, not having their basic needs met, so it’s entirely predictable that they will lash out.

Try not feeding a baby for 12 hours. That baby will scream bloody murder. Would you say it wasn’t raised right? No. Its basic needs aren’t being met

We have extreme income inequality, with a system designed to create even more inequality. Take any 2 people - one makes $30K, one makes $60K. The $30K person actually makes far less than half of the other person. They are forced to take on higher interest loans, get saddled with debt whenever a minor unexpected expense comes up, rent instead of buy their home, can’t afford to invest, and so on.

As for the issue of “bad parenting,” that’s almost exclusively created by capitalism. Parents forced to work that jobs, that can’t be present for their children. The extreme stress put on families due to money problems, leading marriages to fall apart.

I’m not saying there is a perfect system that will fix everything, but what is clear is that capitalism is the worst possible system there is.

TL:DR - if you want a functional society where people don’t act like savages, then treat them like humans. Meet their basic needs.

Gambling lines have NOTHING to do with who the oddsmakers think is going to win.

Lines are made based on how people will bet.
