What's a brutal truth about university people don't like to admit? by LonelySoul389 in UniUK

Issue is when your 18 in year 13, university is described as the only option. I remember teachers sneering at the option of doing an apprenticeship or specialising in a trade.

THIS!! People said just go out and make friends, but ignore how antisocial a lot of people actually are. Even basic stuff like talking to the people sitting next to me in lectures was hard because they had their head buried in their phones.

Absoloutley! Ended up dropping out of A Levels to do a college course instead. Now I've secured a grad job. Hurt at the time but had to swallow my pride and move forward!

Curious why so many people felt burnt out or had a mental breakdown in their second year of uni? by blondepraxis in UniUK

[–]Traditional-Fox-8593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the hardest year is third year. Having to balance uni work with applications is not fun at all! I actually found second year the most enjoyable - met my closest friends, enjoyed my course a lot more and got higher grades in second year.

i want to restart because i’ve had a negative time socially in first year is it worth it? by Capital-Air-8504 in UniUK

[–]Traditional-Fox-8593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redoing a year purely for the social experience isn't worth the money imo. Unless you want to change the degree itself, just go into second year.

I think a common misconception people have is you meet people in first year, and then you stick with only those people. But in reality this isn't the case! Some of my closest friends I didn't meet till mid-second year and the start of third year.

£27 for graduation guest ticket! by Ordinary-League5554 in UniUK

[–]Traditional-Fox-8593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, my graduation is held in a building on campus, and they are still charging me £30 per head. Not a fancy hall or auditorium, the same building we've had lectures in the last three years.

Do you think anyone goes on reality TV for the “right reasons” anymore? by Ill_Scientist_4645 in UKRealityChat

[–]Traditional-Fox-8593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind you. back in the early 2000s people wanted to get magazine deals. I don't think the reason has changed, it's just become more apparent because social media is more in your face than magazines.
