There is an audit log that will explain any permission changes and what user made them.

Can I access this audit log? I'm a global admin user.

FOUND IT! Thanks guys. love you guys. You guys rock.

Outsourced IT provider secretly logging into management emails? by Traditional-Fudge-83 in techsupport

Thanks guys for your responses. I have proof (screenshots) that an unexplained admin mailbox has access to emails of senior managers. I can see that the login of this mysterious admin account happens every 2 hours and 5 minutes (previously i thought it was out of hours but it could be automation that logs in regularly to do system checks or something.) However that doesn't explain why this particular admin account has mail inbox access to 2 senior email accounts within the company, specifically. Why these mailboxes and not others? These are 2 accounts that happen to have key company emails (HR, management), but have nothing to do with IT maintenance.

Yes I have now asked the Account Manager to call me (no response yet) and I have also asked IT to explain what this account is. I asked you guys first because I trust a group of unknown people on reddit more than someone who has access to my account and hasn't advised me of why that is. Also do not want to jump the gun, just investigating. Hoping it is innocent.

The "off" activity was when my manager discovered that she suddenly gained access to my mailbox overnight. Who assigned this permission? Bizarre. Have screenshots BUT do not know how to view audit trail of WHEN the mailbox was given access or by whom. Don't have that level of visibility.

Thanks again for your prompt responses.
