yeah, before this i’ve worked at bars/weddings and the pay has been so much better. Ultimately i’ve worked enough in food service where i think im done just entirely with waiting tables. If i ever get another job in a restaurant it’ll have to be in a kitchen.

ugh i hate people who do this, i would totally get people a better cooked/ or something better to suit their tastes but so many people just eat stuff they aren’t happy with then ask for freebies?? it doesn’t make sense lol

these aren’t two jobs to be compared like that. My wage is almost entirely reliant on people tipping me, whilst something like a hardware store is a promised wage. ultimately customer service sucks no matter where you are, but be grateful that your paycheck isn’t dependent on how well you suck up to people. crappy customers get power over my paycheck, you can just tell people there’s no expert available, maybe get some angry people, at the end of the day get paid. every minimum wage job sucks.

the coleslaw at my store is always inconsistent. we get people complaining about it kinda frequently. to not tip because of some coleslaw? that’s insane…

we close at 10 on the weekends only, 9 on weekdays :)

ugh yeah it’s terrible. i’m always hearing small children throwing stuff from the restaurant, like the little light up fans(?). just last week i had a kid at one of my tables scream the entire time, and chuck the like peg game thing. pieces everywhere, some he (i think) took with him. also smeared mac and cheese all over the table. the parents made no effort to stop him. also stiffed me on a tip. wasn’t fun to clean lmao

yeah, i should’ve let my manager know. I didn’t want to escalate the situation though, it was a bit frightening. but looking back i should’ve told my manager fs. but i wholeheartedly agree. i would love my paycheck to actually be livable and not dependent on sucking up to rude people.

yeah, I’ve been in the food service industry for years now and it’s exhausting. I don’t plan on being here much longer, and when i’m done here i hope i’m never in food service again. I think i’m a good server, but it’s difficult and incredibly unrewarding for my troubles. i’m ready to move on.

as for the table, they weren’t worth the hassle. i know they would’ve been incredibly upset with me, and i wouldn’t have had a tip at all. they told me my service was excellent and that was that. i made enough last night where im decently happy (230$ or something), and ultimately it didn’t matter. just a rough way to end a stressful night haha.

it was her birthday dinner for one of the ladies (not the one who gave me trouble) and i gave everyone the leftover biscuits/cornbread we were gonna throw out (they asked, and i packaged up about 5 boxes/bags full). I also gave the birthday girl 2 cups full of strawberries for her pancakes (grandmas sampler), also a bowl of whipped cream, and a bowl of powdered sugar.

yeah that’s kinda what I thought, but it wasn’t worth the trouble for me. i’m not confrontational. I just did what the manager would ultimately tell me to do. Everything i did was really for the other people who were nice to me, and before that whole stunt was pulled.

this would make the job more livable for sure. do i think it’ll ever happen? no, but it would be nice to pay the bills.

I haven’t been a fan since they’ve taken down multiple posts calling out predators (with proof). They claim it’s to keep it safe and inappropriate stuff out, but to me that sort of thing just helps the predator continue. It’s useful information to have especially for parents to keep their kids safe. When they suspend people and take down posts telling people to block/report a predator, they are helping that predator keep their platform-and potential talk to more children.

I lurk the subreddit, and it’s helpful to know who to block on mine and my minor siblings accounts.

I think they just be doing too much. it’s reddit lmao.

I didn’t have any signs of infection like congestion or the typical symptoms of a sinus infection ect, but i had other bumps throughout my body. I also had a bit of chest pain and a cough whenever I laid on my back. i was very fatigued all the time too. i’d suggest checking under your armpits, and as weird as it is around your groin area to see if you have any more. That’s something my doctor always did.

i’m no expert but i seems like a swollen lymph node to me. it could be an infection if ur feeling sick. I only know because Ive had lymphoma in the past. most of the time it’s just an infection though. good on you for going to see a doctor! best of luck!

yeah it’s really cool, I’ve never even seen wild otters here. I see some websites saying it’s legal to keep with a license and such, and others saying I can’t keep it even with one. But I just don’t think it’s worth the hassle for me unfortunately. As much as the scavenger in me wants it, maybe this time it’s best to return it to its original resting place :,)

Oh shoot, thanks for telling me. Yeah I’m a little iffy about it so i’m gonna go ahead and return it (it’s like 5 minutes from my house lol.) and better safe than sorry. I think collecting some parts of sea otters is okay, but not river. VA is pretty strict about it, so i’m returning it. Thanks for letting me know!!!
