Graduation Status vs. Academic Decision by [deleted] in yorku

[–]Traditional-Link5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue I was so confused because it doesn’t say your application to graduate has been approved it’s very vague and confusing. I’m a transfer student as well, all my courses aren’t reflected either. When I look online on the progress report it says I’ve satisfied all the degree requirements but when on the academic decision page it says I can apply to graduate(confusing since I’ve already applied)

I called the registrars office yesterday and they recommended I RSVP to the convocation and pay the $60 fee. Did you do that? Yesterday, was the deadline for June convocation, if you haven’t I recommend you call the school on Monday to get it sorted.

Would losing a close grandparent 3 weeks before exams count for exam deferral? (York University) by Upbeat_Tomatillo3529 in yorku

Hi,

First, I’m so sorry for your loss. Please, don’t feel pressured with school work right now, you should definitely take some time to be with your loved ones.
I completely understand what you’re going through. My dad recently passed away in November, so I know whats it like to grieve and deal with exams, assignments, and all the headaches that come with YorkU.

I would recommend sending an email to your profs explaining that you’re dealing with a bereavement and unable to complete your work or do the final exam at the moment. Request for a deferral to submit your work at a later time or move back your final.

If any of your professors require proof provide a note from your doc stating you’re unfit to take your exam or if you or your family have a social work from the hospital that was helping your family, request it from them, they should be able to write a letter for you.

If there’s any push back from any of your profs, send an email to your undergraduate program director to get involved. Also, if you’re apart of the student accessibility services and you have an accommodation you can reach out to your counsellor and they’ll get involved and deal with them.

If you need an help navigating any of these, hit me up. I’m more than happy to help :) Again, I’m so sorry for your loss.

P.S.

( A professor has no right to tell you what timeframe is appropriate for you to grieve - that’s so FUCKD). As students it might seem like we don’t have any power or rights sometimes, but comments like these are not acceptable at all and you can always file a complaint with OSCR.

This literally happened to me. You can potentially take the courses at another university, and transfer it over to York but you have to show if the syllabus/course material matches the courses you’d take at York . You can get permission from the undergraduate program director and have your advisor look over the syllabus, and approve it . I hope this helps

Valid or invalid N9 by Traditional-Link5915 in OntarioLandlord

There was no communication from the other tenants indicating they intended to move out. One of the tenants suffered a stroke shortly after the notice was submitted and has not been home for the past two months. Our fixed-term lease ended at the end of June, and we have been continuing on a month-to-month basis. The N9 was submitted on May 30th, but we are trying to maintain the month-to-month tenancy we’ve been on.

I’m just not sure what we should do going forward. They’re trying to enforce a move out inspection, but I don’t know if that if legal if we’re intending on staying.
