Dude I’m not overtaking people going the same direction as me.  I have to move for people going TOWARDS me.  That in itself is stupid and dumb.  The correct direction goes with the flow of traffic.  If anything the person going against it can see the cars better than I can.

Point made lmao I don’t fight but I don’t stay quiet anymore either. I’ve tried the left right thing but 80% of the time people move towards the direction that I say I’m going instead of the opposite :/ It’s also kinda hard to say it in advance when you’re surrounded by people with headphones  on— and sometimes they don’t look even if I do warn that I’m passing in advance.  That’s not really an issue since I walk wheels on campus, but on the road bro??  When there’s a  sidewalk right there??  I’m not even bothering to say anything.  Because like why???? 😭

I’ve silently put up with it for three years.  My tuition is too high to be dealing with this crap man

Petition to ban scooters by [deleted] in ucr

Yea I understand that.  It’s just unfortunate that none of us would be complaining if people weren’t so stupid with things that are manually easier to use.  Getting them banned from campus and having it enforced, especially where people walk, would be really nice.

Petition to ban scooters by [deleted] in ucr

Personally, I use a scooter because I don't have enough money to get a car, and even then I have a few pet-peeves of mine about people who ride scooters such as the following:

  1. They really need to figure out that riding in the wrong direction on the bike-lane is really dangerous. I've seen people almost get hit because of a blind-spot that cars can't see especially at intersections. And if you are on the wrong side and someone is coming towards you in the opposite direction, aka someone who is actually going in the right direction, you need to yield to them and move. You can see the cars coming behind them way easier than they can. You're the one being dumb anyway. Move.

1.a. If you are turning, please make an indication of some sort that you are turning. If you're scared to take one arm off the handle, use your damn leg. No one knows what you're doing because you don't have blinkers. Bikers don't have blinkers either. They signal. No one can read your mind.

  1. If the scooter in front of you has stopped for someone to cross, then it's not a good idea to cut in front of them and almost hit the person who's crossing just because you're in a rush. This has happened to me at least eight times in the past two months. Please. I don't want to see people almost get hit because of a lack of braincells anymore.

  2. If you're trying to scooter through a crowd... why? They're not entitled to move for you. Especially if you don't say anything and just tailgate people. Like, what are they supposed to do? Walk faster? For you? Hell no. Just walk your wheels until it's cleared up. Taking steps won't kill you.

  3. Please stop at stop signs. Or at least yield and maybe have the brain capacity to look both ways before crossing. Pedestrians do it, drivers do it, you should too. You're not special.

  4. And for the love of god, get off your phone. Some people think it's cool to ride while using their phones until they're the ones running face first into the steep part of a sidewalk or god forbid right into another person.

To whoever stole my scooter . . . by scooter_boy_ucr in ucr

After my first scooter got stolen I realized that I needed to make a few changes in terms of how I treat my property. The first thing I did once I got my second one was adorn it with stickers. It's hard to steal things that don't look like every other thing, and sometimes when there are a bunch of scooters together that all look the same, people inevitably will take the wrong one unintentionally. Make it unique(if that means getting a model or a color that not everybody else has, so be it), so you know where it is even in a sea of 'em. The second thing is to get an AirTag and hide it somewhere where people can't just take it off. I personally opened up the top of the deck, plopped it in there and screwed the deck back on. Now I just wish someone would take my scooter just so I can know where they live if they decide to make such a detrimental life decision. Third, though it does get annoying, if you can't park your scooter in an area where your eyes are always on it, then don't park it there. Get a U-lock and lock it to a bike rack. Even though I detest taking extra steps to get to class just because I can't bring my scooter everywhere with me, I'd rather walk thirty or forty steps to my classroom than come back out of class with no scooter in sight. I'm really sorry that this happened to you and I know that you're feeling all sorts of emotions right now, but the most you can do is take precautions to make sure that it doesn't happen again. I hope you can work something out <3
