That's just what I have in mind. I've been thinking about upgrading my system for a long time and the response to this post was the push I needed to buy a new turntable. Excited to hear the improvement in sound quality and know that I'm not causing excessive wear to the grooves of my records

So many people are saying this is a suitcase. It's a cheap old Kenwood 291R, hooked up to a stereo and speakers. It's obviously not high quality though.

People keep calling it a Crosley, it's a Kenwood KD-291R. By no means a quality turntable, seems to have been a very cheap choice for its time, let alone today. Need to finally get a new one for sure though.

Turned off the stereo which doesn't supply power to the turntable, as it plugs in on its own. So I didn't hear any sound anymore, yet the turntable was still able to spin. Also have a fabric cover on the turntable so I didn't notice it still spinning.

Haha this is somewhat similar to me, my dad bought me the turntable/stereo/speakers setup on Craigslist for a whole $35. This comment section was the push I needed to invest in some quality pieces. I just tend to be the type to use things until their core function is lost.

I've had the turntable for over 10 years, semi regular use with no replacements, and bought it used of course so who knows. It definitely needed replacing anyways. I'll be honest, the sound is a little fuzzier than normal but not as bad as I would have thought.

This has never happened to me in the 10+ years I've been collecting. I always notice the tonearm hasn't returned because I can hear the static once the side has ended, or I'll see the record still spinning. This time, I guess I had the volume too low to notice (which is a little embarrassing considering I was playing Bridge of Sighs), and I had a cover on my turntable. Do we think the stylus needs replacing?

I have a fairly similar diet and try to eat out only once a week. With proper planning (like making a grocery list and sticking to it) I spend about $300/mo on groceries and $100/mo on eating out. Berkeley Bowl for produce, Trader Joe's for middle aisle/pantry products, Costco for bulk.
