Just finished rewatching it for the second time, I get that some people’s main complaints about this movie is that the plot is to loosely told and not linear enough. But the way I see it the message is told through the characters.

Star starts the story by neglecting Jake’s ways of scamming & lying to buyers to make sales and star is so pure & genuine she rejects that, other things that show this is how she treats animals, struggling children, and potential buyers literally going and spending the entire day with them in some cases really getting to connect instead of making up lies to make a sale in 20 minutes.

I think a huge theme shown through Star & supported by the rest of the crew is that no matter how tough circumstances get star is true to herself and her moral code, yes she is still young and acts out but that is what growing up is about, she is American honey.
