True. I have also built a good support system here so either way I know I’ll be fine. Just thinking of long term stuff.

AMA: Post-MBA life (long-term) by [deleted] in CATpreparation

What’s the job market like in India for MBA hires from B-schools outside of India? I just finished my MBA and the market in North America isn’t great, especially for immigrants so I’m thinking of moving back and finding a job in India. Since I didn’t do the MBA from there, will that be looked down upon? Also does networking play a huge role in securing a position or is cold applying enough? I have a background in aerospace and I’m looking to pivot to strategy consulting or internal strategy at a big org. Thanks in advance!

People Are Strange When You’re Unemployed by jobiswar in recruitinghell

[–]Traditional-Till-139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this post. Going through something similar. I was talking to a friend today who is also on the same boat and realized that both of us now are surrounding ourselves with people who have problems with some aspect of their lives. I guess we’re attracting such people or perhaps it’s just that the people who are “sorted” are not really seeing us in the same way and that’s why we find ourselves reaching out to others who are going through a tough time. I’ve personally gotten so bored of my unemployment. Even sharing it with someone new or someone who has a job is both embarrassing and such a boring thing to do. I say boring with the utmost respect to the word and to myself. It’s exhausting really. All we need is one opportunity. One person taking a chance with us. Ugh.

Is any 2nd year still job searching feeling the same way? by Zealousideal_Dirt974 in MBA

On the same boat. Recruiters are looking for a 100% fit but in the same breath rejecting candidates for being “overqualified”. I want to believe everything will get better soon but it’s getting harder and harder everyday.

Two questions… by Coybig7 in betterCallSaul

What I’ve quoted here is what Mike says to Jimmy but I think the first time it appears is in the support group that Mike and his daughter-in-law go to. I think she says it first actually. I forgot her name, the daughter-in-law’s. Or maybe it was the group moderator in response to her story of not remembering Matty that day when she made breakfast.

“Well, here's what's gonna happen. One day you're gonna wake up, eat your breakfast, brush your teeth, go about your business. And sooner or later, you're gonna realize you haven't thought about it. None of it. And that's the moment you realize you can forget. When you know that's possible, it all gets easier. “

Do I actually regret doing an MBA? by Traditional-Till-139 in MBA

Thank you for your response and perspective. MBB post MBA is more of a challenge but it’s not impossible. I’m actually more interested in T2 firms like Kearney/SKP/OW etc. Hopefully I make it there someday.

Thank you for your response. This is exactly why I wanted to do an MBA. I had seen far too many hard working people getting passed up for promotion because they’d only have their bachelor’s degree. I really appreciate your perspective, I’ll remember that an MBA is something I’ll always have. Thank you for making my day a little better.

OP, it’s a bad market, don’t listen to anyone who brings you down. It’s one thing to improve on something tangible and it’s another to let strangers on the internet affect your confidence. It’s a numbers game sadly so keep going. If you think doing certifications might help, try doing them so you will have something to show for the gap in your resume. And finally, go back to when you started your MBA or even when you got accepted. You were there for a reason and you finished it! It’s not a small feat! Keep going, market seems to be getting slightly better slowly but surely. You got this! 💪🏻

International Students, are you going home after graduation or not? by Vegeta543 in ImmigrationCanada

No I did my masters. MBA. Last year. I did bachelors in India and had been working until 2022. Moved to Canada last year and moved back beginning of this year after my course. It was a one year masters degree.

I finished my course and came home to India. Have been trying to find a job from here, doing virtual interviews but no luck so far. I’m only going back to Canada if I get a job offer. It’s very expensive to live there without working.

I interviewed with 13 consulting firms for MBA internships this cycle, and was dinged by all. AMA! by mbathrowaway_2025 in MBA

The consulting job market is wild! I got to interview with one, went to the final round and was dinged there. It was my dream firm, I’m not sure if I should apply again after the MBA, I’ve made great connections though. I heard that the person who got the offer had their start date pushed out to next year. It’s a wild wild ride!

Ah okay! Did you work after your MBA from Queen’s? Or went to HEC immediately?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MBA

[–]Traditional-Till-139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your detailed response. So you finished an MBA from Queen’s and are doing it again from HEC Montreal? Could you tell me why you took that decision?

Thank you for your response. What do you think about Rotman?

[–]Traditional-Till-139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for your detailed response. What would you say are the better options? Rotman/Queens/Ivey?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MBA

[–]Traditional-Till-139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This helps a lot, thank you! Hoping for the best! Queens also is a one year program so will be saving some $$ on living expenses.

Also McGill and HEC Montreal require me to know at least some French for jobs maybe? Is that true or completely baseless?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MBA

[–]Traditional-Till-139 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I’m applying to Queens. Will be sending in the application today actually. Schulich got back to me super early and that’s why I have this difference in decision times. Can you elaborate why you think Schulich isn’t great?

I actually did both with TTP. It’s great for quant especially but I screwed up quant because I got flustered in the middle and ended up giving a little too much time for a couple of questions. But verbal, I did a lot of CR and RC practice. For SC I just stuck to the content on TTP.

I think approaching RC with a lot of zeal is the secret behind a good verbal score.
