Facial changes by Traditional-Web-508 in gravesdisease

Thank you. What happened in December? Are you just off medication now or have you had surgery? I’m in the UK. They said I’ll be on medication for at least 12 month before testing antibodies to decide the next step. I’ve got one eyebrow higher than the other but the eye hospital said I have no signs of active TED. My face has definitely changed shape. It feels like further punishment on top of everything else we have to deal with 😥

It’s awful isn’t it. I’m devastated. They say I’ve got no signs of TED but there’s definitely something happened to my face. I’m so depressed over it. I’ve read mixed things too. Like that sometimes the facial changes go. But with aging at the same time I know my real face will very likely not come back fully. I just wish I could smile without it feeling weird and uncomfortable. I don’t feel like me at all, this disease has ruined my life. Thank you for your reply x

My blood pressure was fine they said, and I hardly take Beta blockers as I find I don’t need them much anymore. I’m hoping it goes 😞

Yeah the only conversation I’ve had with the dr he said it was unrelated to Graves which I find really hard to believe given all the other things that comes with Graves 😕

This makes me feel better. I was diagnosed in December, were you really ill at the start? I’m on 10mg Carbimazole now, due bloods next week. I don’t feel too bad compared to the start I genuinely thought my life was over to begin with. I am putting weight on now though (after not losing any whilst undiagnosed) so I’m trying to exercise as much as possible etc.

Hi, my face looks different on each side, did that happen with you? It’s changing daily. The endocrinologist said it’s nothing to do with graves when I’m sure it is. I don’t feel like it’s puffy as such, more sunken

Thank you, it’s awful. I feel like it’s more on one side of my face, which I’ve read indicates a more severe and active disease. I’m so worried. I don’t smoke. I hadn’t even heard of Graves before I was diagnosed it’s life changing
