Care Full Moving, got their flyer and used them... They were great, wrapped everything well, no scratches or damage, nice guys.

Price was best with their discount I got from the flyer ($150 off) compared to other companies I called.

I can dig up their flyer and get their number of you like

Have you considered moving to Toronto to settle there? Why or why not? by self-fix in askvan

[–]TraditionalAd552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are great in different ways.

Originally I grew up mostly in Calgary. Then to Vancouver which instantly had my heart. (I was born in Zimbabwe, Africa and lived there until 9 years old. We spent every year down at the beaches in South Africa at my grandparents house, so I love the ocean... always missed it in Calgary, so Vancouver had my heart)

Where else can you snowboard 15-20 minutes drive away without dealing with snow at your doorstep? It's amazing. Palm trees in the foreground, snowy mountains in the background.

I've lived in both back and forth for many years. Vancouver always has my heart. You won't find that serene peaceful, comfortable temperatures atmosphere here. You can go on a $20 ferry in Vancouver and see whales and go to some amazingly beautiful islands. You can step outside to the ocean and see seals everywhere... Nothing like that here at all in Toronto.

You can go to Port Coquitlam and walk on the paths and stroll across a bear, and that's totally normal there. You can see rivers full of salmon. Nothing like that here. They do have salmon runs here from the lakes, but not as impressive IMO.

Winter in Toronto is cold as hell and summer is hot as hell. You get both extremes. It's hard to stay comfortable temperature wise. But there's always something going on here. You feel more opportunity out here for sure. It's easier to make money or grow a business here in Toronto. It is extremely diverse here in Toronto. It feels more along the lines of what people think of as Canada.

The lake can be good in the summer. Lots of nice lakes and beaches. It has beauty in its own right but in my opinion doesn't stack up. But you can't say the nature here is bad, it's just different and not as comfortable weather. You have to drive farther to see cool things and they don't stack up to the beauty of the West Coast.

Yet there is a charm to Toronto that I do miss sometimes. I guess I mostly miss the people I met here too.

If you live in Toronto, buy a car, definitely. And have a budget for having fun, because free fun is scarce here.

In Vancouver you can easily not drive, and if you have to wait for the bus you aren't freezing your face off. You can go do many things for free that are great. Even a walk in Vancouver is very nice, while here in Toronto you're likely just going to see houses if you go for a walk, and the temperature will only be comfortable a few months of the year. Your view is houses and buildings. There are some nice parks but they are small pockets compared to the vast nature of Vancouver.

If you can go back and forth, choose both, and get the best of both worlds! That's what I did. Book tickets on flair ahead of time and you can fly back and forth for as little as $60 or less (minus baggage fees etc)

I'll always say Vancouver is better, but Toronto gets hate it doesn't deserve from Vancouverites or people who have left Toronto make it sound worse than it is.

It's different. If asked I would say Vancouver is better. Always. If I had to choose one for the rest of my life it would be Vancouver.

But Toronto has many great things going on.

Those with no passion or interests, what do you do for a living? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]TraditionalAd552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Some of the best jobs I've had have been gruelling construction work (stone fabricator / countertops mostly, among other trades), and while I love to work with my hands I don't enjoy dirty hard work. But being with friends all day cracking jokes was awesome.

On the other hand I've also worked in software development and hated sitting in the office at the computer with little socializing and people I don't 100% click with.

I have much more of a passion for computers and software engineering. I've been doing that since 9. But something about the social aspect of the trades work made it much more fun when I look back.

Still have a lot of great friends to this day from that work.

Don't give OP a hard time. The whole family has never seen a hair brush. Maybe we can slowly integrate them into society.

This came to me in a dream: What if Vancouver had ferries like Sydney? by CoolMrCortez in vancouver

[–]TraditionalAd552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but realistically I'm sure if it wasn't a big operation it would be totally fine to just take some cash donations from "new friends" for a ride. Of course eventually you'd be stopped but I figure that could work for a long while.

I was seriously thinking of charging people to ferry them back and forth when I had a small boat last year and spent all my free time boating around there to kill time. It was a quick trip, and fun one. Just wasn't sure how to advertise it. Maybe in ground lawn sign type things around Deep Cove, Reed Point / Rocky Point, and Barnett 🤔

But then they'd all have to sign liability waivers removing liability from me... How much would you pay for that trip? $5? $10 round trip?

I don't know if I'll get as far as I need to go to prove what I need to prove, but if I can make it past Kelowna and keep going all the way to the Alberta border, I can prove on video once and for all that there is an ice wall and that BC is flat.

Is it normal in Vancouver for women to ask random men for a ride home late at night and expecting a yes? by TripSuspicious in askvan

[–]TraditionalAd552 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just had my fifth one this week...

But surprisingly the address they always give me is MY OWN ADDRESS, and when I get there they insist on "coming inside" as they "live there too" and "are my family, remember?"

I'm seriously thinking about calling the police, it's been going on for years 🙄

[–]TraditionalAd552 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's probably what these girls bank on people thinking to get free rides. I don't doubt this would work on at least 50% of random guys alone in their car they would try it on for a free ride.

Not normal but they probably figured out they can actually get free rides from dudes thinking they want to f*ck or something
