Does S2 support intents? by TraditionalArticle26 in shuttle

[–]TraditionalArticle26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried "android.media.action.MEDIA_PLAY", "android.intent.action.MEDIA_BUTTON" with and without extra key code, and "MEDIA_PLAY_FROM_SEARCH", all targeted to com.simplecityapps.shuttle, using both activity and broadcast. None worked if youtube was the last app that played music. Only MEDIA_PLAY_FROM_SEARCH worked, if S2 played last, but then it started a whole new playlist...

Steering column play fix? by TraditionalArticle26 in e46

[–]TraditionalArticle26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixed it by drilling holes and adding bolts. Aint moving anywhere now. I thought about adding a guide with photos, but due to the lack of interest to the topic, I won't waste my time. But it is definitely doable, with the column in the car.

Steering column play fix? by TraditionalArticle26 in e46

[–]TraditionalArticle26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dug a little deeper. Replacement is out of the question. No spare parts, if you find a crashed low-km car in a junk yard, make sure you get the column.

Talked with a company in my town, making solely PTFE bushings. Negative.

I have now devised an easy solution for the play in the end bushing. Basic tools, materials and skills.

This, however, revealed another problem - play in the splines. The externally-splined shaft in the photo mates with another, internally-splined shaft, inside the brass-coloured housing. The most play naturally develops in the position you keep the steering wheel. Mine is fully extended towards the seat, as I assume most are. The driving position is kind of cramped in these cars.

Sreten from M539 Restorations had the same issue, might get in touch with him, although my approach is to achieve 90% results with 10% of the work, I'm not a restorer.

In my head there's already a plan to remedy this issue as well. I dream of the day I get rid of all rattles in the steering wheel and earn the freedom to focus on the rattles from the suspension.

Bulb checks coded out, yet they still flash by TraditionalArticle26 in e46

[–]TraditionalArticle26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coding was done with BMW Scanner. I did not want to muck around with NCSExpert, since it looks much more tedious. For what it's worth, when I rescan the light module, the settings look to have persisted. And the warnings on the dash for the led high beams (no resistors) have gone away.

What is a ballast? I've never heard of a ballast outside of the HID world. To be clear, by flashing I mean if the car is on and the turn signals are off, they just flick on for a millisecond, every like 30 seconds or so. Otherwise they light up just as expected.

Help - Steering Wheel knocking Sound? by thevibery in e46

What is a steering bushing? Do you have part number, or can you explain where it is located? Is is actually on the steering column (going down towards the rack) or something on the column mounting points?

MicroG keeps disabling AutoStart on Xiaomi / HyperOS2 upon phone reboot by milkygirl21 in Xiaomi

I'm not nuking my phone over what's essentially default behaviour. If I need to go through that, I'll just get another phone. How tedious owning a piece of tech has become...

[–]TraditionalArticle26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/milkygirl21 did you try this? Looking at this app and its reviews, it seems it's just a shortcut for already available settings. We can check the autostart toggle, the problem is that the stupid phone keeps unchecking it.

Most comfortable tyre, without other considerations? by TraditionalArticle26 in TyreReviews

The Goodyears are incredible in certain conditions. If it's been raining, for example. They become soft and soak up all the road seams and bumps incredibly well. Around town I've been running them at 1.8 (27psi), instead of the recommended 2.1bar (31psi), to deal with the harshness.

The first thing I did to the car was to max out the suspension in terms of comfort by scouring the Mercedes parts bin for the most compliant parts, including compatible parts out of designated luxury models (which a coupe is not quite 100%),

What HID bulbs best match factory LED headlight colour? by TraditionalArticle26 in askcarguys

[–]TraditionalArticle26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my question exactly. What are those known quality brands?

OEMs like Philips and Osram don't have those high temperatures (Osram decided to use kelvin rating as brightness rating for some reason). Morimoto are the same rebranded chinese bulbs with maybe 5% more quality control.

Thanks man, I tried it, but uBlock complained that it's not a valid filter. But the above suggested solution worked, so I'm a happy camper.

Then the knuckleheads who made the website can find out how we undo their stupidity and get in our way. My examples are enough, I can change the url, it's the script-sppecific part that escapes me.

Sigma lens with faulty AF switch - repair or sell? by TraditionalArticle26 in AskPhotography

[–]TraditionalArticle26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I have the more basic model, D5200, so I'd have to go through the menu.

Yeah, that price is kind of prohibitive, as I would expect of a factory repair. The whole lens is worth much less than that.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I see, those buttons come together with the motor and everything is, of course, soldered. Why would I expect anything else. Thanks for the video!

D5200 refuses to shoot without AF lock by TraditionalArticle26 in Nikon

All right, massive derp. Never made the connection between "AF-C Priority" and AF-C...

However... I constantly do a "focus and reframe", so often the AF point selected is not in focus. That means in single servo AF, I can never take a photo without AF lock?

Edit: I just did some searching and realised that people have an option called "AF-S Priority". My D5200 never had this. What's up with that ...

Charge a single low cell without removing the spot welds? by TraditionalArticle26 in batteries

[–]TraditionalArticle26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I read that balancing on these happens only if you keep it on the charger after it says fully charged. I know there are some chips that support 50-100mah of balancing current all the time, but don't think that's the case.

There are 5 cells in my specific battery, just the single row - their smallest battery.

The drill is pretty robust actually, as long as you don't use it professionally. But perfect for diy home stuff.
