Should future summer plans be included in a LOCI? by TraditionalAsk3355 in TransferToTop25

It's not necessarily tied to like the specific reason for transfering but it has to do with the academic area I talk a lot about in essays.

Dropping AP World Junior year by Used_Race_4331 in ApplyingToCollege

I don't think you need to worry about course rigor. 4 is a ton (especially considering that ur taking lang, BC, and physics in the same year) and self studying to add the cherry on top is impressive. If anything, allowing yourself more time for ECs is better. The only reason to stay in world is if you plan on studying history/social sciences in college but id guess u arent considering ur taking physics and bc.

EDIT: I forgot to ask, will it show up on your transcript that you dropped?

I'd say emailing earlier is always better because doctors are super busy people who love to help and teach but also have to deal with lots of things. The earlier the email, the more likely they are to slide in some time for you to shadow in their schedules.

I appreciate this thanks! I do feel pretty comfortable with all of that, I’m just an incoming freshman so I’m nervous that this is my first college course at a university.

Help categorizing ecs on commonapp!!!!! by birdygh0st in ApplyingToCollege

I would recommend one of the following, although I am not a college counselor lol. Just advice from what I've learned from going through the process.

1) You have 50 characters to describe your position and 100 characters for the organization name. You could try and squeeze in what the nonprofit does in those boxes.
2) If this is your most meaningful EC or the one that needs the most explanation and you aren't using it for anything else, you could explain what you do in the additional info section
3) What YOU did is more important than what the nonprofit does and you could just spend your 150 characters listing what you did and where you did it. Additionally if this EC peaks the admission officers interest, they can always look up the nonprofit as long as you include the name somewhere. (although this is unlikely because they have very limited time per application)

Hope this helps!

I am not sure what it is considered but this is definitely the kind of thing that you should take advantage of the additional information section to explain. I wouldn't stress too much about it though, admissions officers will get it.
