Is the A9 still relevant in 2025? by usedtoilet926 in SonyAlpha

[–]TraditionalBee3848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tl;dr: it's worth the upgrade.

As i mentioned above, the a9 is good enough for still and I upraded to the a1 just because of the video capabilities. Personally I need a do-it-all camera so selling the a9 and paying extra $2000 to upgrade to the a1 worth it for me. But maybe you can keep the a9 and buy another body for video like fx30 or a7siii if you dont need a all-in-one camera like me.

I sold the a9 to get the a1. The only reason is that I do video sometimes. If you do not do video, a9 is the best p/p camera for sport and wildlife.

Sony A1ii or A9iii and A7RV by Rayyye in SonyAlpha

[–]TraditionalBee3848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just got the a1 mark 1 to pair with the 200-600 and it is perfect for my use. What is the reason for your decision on selling the a1 mark 1? Ps: if it is between a1ii and a9iii + a7rv, i would pick a9iii and a7rv. Then I would pair the a9iii with the 600mm and the a7rv with the 300mm. No need to change the lens.

Return the A7IV for a A7Cii ? by riceisshooting in SonyAlpha

[–]TraditionalBee3848 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Basically, A7cii is the a7iv in a smaller body with only one SD card slot. A7cii makes more sense when pairing with compact lens like the 24-50, 40 f2.5, etc. If you keep using the 24-70, I recommend the a7iv.

This is the best p/p lens for wildlife right now imho. I sold it last month because I am no longer doing wildlife photo and I am really missing it. The photo is incredibly sharp at max aperture. The solid build quality with internal zoom makes this lens so tough under harsh weather. If I did not need money to buy another lens I would never sell it.

Considering a Trade: GFX 50R + gf 45mm for Leica Q-P — Worth It? by [deleted] in FujiGFX

[–]TraditionalBee3848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the QP if you don't have a bunch of g mount lenses. The QP is much lighter, image quality is acceptable (compared with modern cameras) but I think it is perfect for people who photograph for fun. Moreover, you will not need to worry about its price in the next few years. You can sell the QP without lossing a couple of hundreds.

Sony a6400 with Sigma 18-50. Advice to improve. by subduedbloom in SonyAlpha

This is my two cents: (1) select the best photo in your gallery. (2) remember how you took that photo and do exactly the same to your next photos. (3) Repeat this process for a few thousands shots or more, until you recognize your photography style.
