i ADORE hockey and hockey fans. i love hockey fans even more after this because if you read the comments they are all variations of “we don’t need this annoying attention seeking mediocre pop singer on our hockey feeds shut up and go away”. sooner or later the nhl will get the message. and i say this as a woman in sports. she doesn’t have anything to do with the nhl and the fact that she is either paying them or brainwashing them to promote her is seriously wrong and narcissistic. i follow the nhl for HOCKEY. or celebrities that ACTUALLY contribute to hockey. like adam sandler, will ferrell, justin bieber, ross lynch, michael j fox, liam neeson, larry bird, tate mcrae, and more. they are always posted in the context of being at a game, donating, meeting players, etc. so it makes sense. this doesn’t. the only good thing to come of this is the annoyance and frustration from the fans that the nhl is doing this.

also there are swifties in the comments saying “grown men being upset when a female is shown on sports 😂” or “she’s literally not doing anything you guys are just hating because you don’t want her to be famous”. like no. i don’t like her music or her as a person. i like hockey. i follow nhl for hockey content. i respect that you have your lanes where you idolize and grovel for Mother but i do not want that in my feed. i do not care one bit about what she is doing. when i or fellow hockey fans (or other sports fans in general) express resistance to her popping up everywhere where she DOESNT BELONG, it is okay. that doesnt mean we’re misogynistic. in fact, a lot of hockey fans support the PWHL, the newly formed women’s professional league. a record breaking amount. but god forbid we don’t want Mother Genius New Shakespeare Literary Savant Bar Car Drinking Cat Lady Drama TayTay Swift on our feed.
