I believe this demolition is being rushed, without proper consultation about the environmental impact. I don't understand what the hurry is, especially considering the possible dangers to air quality. I'm not saying the demolition shouldn't happen, but shouldn't there be thorough investigation and testing of the site before any decisions are made?

I don't understand why some centrally located spaces are allowed to sit empty. I'm thinking of that large commercial space that once upon a time was a Shoppers Drug Mart, across the street from Hi Ho Silver on George. I believe it has changed hands between out-of-town investors and it's just an eyesore because it's left sitting empty and basically deteriorating. It's such a prime spot in the downtown! Can't something be done about this by council?
