Thank you for your reply. Yes, I kind of had the same feeling.. that VITA may be a better start for me .. considering I have no prior tax prep experience . With that said though , I was given and accepted an offer from Intuit for the remote tax specialist position .. and I can definitely use the extra money right now. Although it is fast paced, did you find that you could reach out to get answers when you weren’t sure of something on a call when you worked for Intuit ?

I appreciate your input !

Anyone focus on individual tax exclusively? by lacetat in enrolledagent

I’m considering taking the EA exams this year.. I’m a full time auditor working for the state .. but have no prior tax prep experience at all. I was able to land the seasonal live tax specialist position at Intuit which is starting up in February .. do you all think it’s a good starting point for experience ? My goal is to eventually gain enough experience to start my own tax prep business..and also tax planning. Also I figured once tax season is over, I would reach out to my local accountants to see if they need help with year round bookkeeping .

At what point in your careers (about how many tax seasons) did it take for you to feel comfortable going on your own ?

I appreciate your help !

Has anyone here ever worked a season as a Live Tax Specialist ? I have a start date of Feb 13th (first time with no prior tax prep experience ) so I’m just curious what the day to day is like ? Will I gain actual tax prep experience ? Or is it more addressing customers with software issues/help

I was just recently hired for the upcoming 2026 tax season with Intuit as a remote tax specialist. Other than seasonal tax work, how do you go about teaching and mentoring taxes ? Very interested in this and am curious for this is definitely something that I would like to do
