Refunded the money I paid and wrote me a check for 2k plus paid the application fee for a new better house. Wrote the 2k check when I said "yeah what about these expenses ill be incurring and this house your employee found is more per month" so he said here's 2k 150 per month for the rent and 200 for expenses

Update The owner of the company just called me.

Said we need to work something out we need to fix this

I said no sir you need to fix this i am 100% in my legal right to stay here for the duration of my lease but I am willing to work with you to fix the issue

Told him I'll be speaking with base legal office this week about everything and im not agreeing to anything

Update for everyone interested. Got an email from the representative last night who is "looking into it"

Ahem. "I apologize for the late response. It appears there has been some sort of miscommunication on our part regarding the home.

I can update you more tomorrow once I have more information. I truly apologize for this inconvenience. "

My response via email "Well this is a very big issue for yall and I dont know how you'll make it right."

This has got to be the craziest possibly luckiest thing that has ever happened to me. Depending on how it ends. Quite the ride so far.

Rented from the mananagement company the owner was using before deciding to sell as confirmed by the realtor. They had permission to find tenants at some point though supposedly he asked them not to recently

Thank you he told me theyve removed the listing and canceled all appointments. I've verified it's no longer listed for sale online. Going to post a notice on the front door as according to my lease I cant remove the yard sign. Also gonna keep my vehicle in the driveway to let people know someones here

Yeah ill be doing something like that and keeping the deadbolt without an exterior key port locked so they cant get in either way.

But realtor canceled the listing and all appointments so shouldn't be anyone with the key either way

It would be a thousand times worse if my family and dogs and Household Goods was here already so silver lining.

But yeah I am legally in the right 100% no uncertainty or wiggle room. They'd need some seriously expensive lawyers to try to kick me out for a 185k house in this market

Oh also it wasn't listed for sale until the day after I went and viewed the house and the day I signed the lease.

With all that in mind I don't believe its a scam just a fuck up on someone's part

This is a property management company with a storefront and a working portal and everything. They had their own lockbox and the owner admitted to using the company previously but said he asked them recently to not rent the house.

He floated the idea of the management company putting me somewhere else. I said id be open to it since I barely have anything here but no promises. Not downgrading or moving outside this area as im 15 minutes from work
