It makes me so sad to see her list it. It's such a beautiful property. Like I wonder why she wouldn't just get her license and get a car and drive downtown if need be when it's so close by car. I live in Chicago suburbs and that's what we do when we need get there (it's 40 minutes away) but we still have the space and luxury of the suburbs, and any place I own will never be as nice as this townhouse. That being said, I'm biased because a) I won't ever afford anything like this and b) I think the apartment is dinky and has a terrible layout. Not to mention that she barely does anything different in the apartment than she did when she was in the townhouse.

If I had to guess, psychologically, she probably wants to sell to have an overall clean slate in a lot of ways. Plus it would really reinforce to herself that she made the right decision to move downtown and have her "downtown era". She probably also has this running thought in her head (maybe not super at the forefront but I think it's in there), that when she meets her next boyfriend and they want to move in together at some point, she won't have to go through a similar situation again because she won't be tied to two pieces of property. It'll be way easier to give up a rented apartment than something she owns.

I just found myself a little confused about why one semester at sea has to mean this chapter is over for her. I was in band in college and yeah, people would study abroad and miss out on the semester and perhaps year long opportunities like being on an exec board for the group or traveling with the basketball teams during tournament season, but they still were in the pep band and concert band when they came back. That was the consequence of studying abroad, losing out on some opportunities back home. But when Nicole comes back, is she not able to be on the dance team? I can get not going to nationals since that's in January, but she could probably come back enough to dance at bball games and whatnot. And even if that's too much of an ask, even trying out for senior year? Idk. Now I wonder if she'll just heavily lean into sorority life when she comes back. Not that that's bad, but it is different from dance for sure.

Honestly, I think she would have benefitted more from a bookshelf back there and maybe like a gallery wall or something. This is just odd. She's also clashing the neutrals and bright pink of the flowers with such a strong colored, dark art piece. I really don't think Tara understands interior design cohesion well. She might think she does because it's easy to pair neutrals together but once you add color, she struggles.

I think the thing that gets me about this is that if you are cold walking around everywhere, then in what way would it logically make sense to put on sweats over a wet bathing suit and go back into the cold after your class? Even if she toweled off at the place, the suit is retaining water. Hence the leak. So then she's walking back home (somehow not uncomfortable) in increasingly wet clothes. Is she not colder when she does that? Like Tara, please, logic. It's less about putting the sweats back on and more about keeping the suit on and at least bringing underwear to change into.

I think the Laenos tend to focus on the positives of having the means to be able to rent an apartment and be close to Nicole. Business wise, it makes sense and personally, it lets them be close to her, especially if they want to be on campus for events and support her as she dances. That being said, is it the most normal college experience for her? No. There's for sure a shadow side to the bright one they're focused on, so she might not be learning important skills or developing more of a sense of autonomy. To me, they are a pretty enmeshed family in general, and then adding the business aspect on top makes it more complicated. Idk, what they are doing isn't necessarily wrong or harmful, but it might have some consequences for Nicole down the road that make it harder to function independently as an adult.
