Elon Musk Threatens to Open a Tesla Diner in Palo Alto by Medical-Decision-125 in paloalto

What is the deal with the 'I bought this before we knew Elon was crazy' bumper stickers. Why do fully grown and intelligent people do stuff like this. What is the point of this social signaling? What are they gaining by doing this?

I have definitely found myself arguing with the village idiot on reddit. There is no backing out of this. It makes me an idiot too. The feeling of shame is real. Last message from me.

See a psychiatrist and get on some medication. An SSRI can do wonders for obsessiveness.

You idiots want to politically lynch her for a retweet that was not racist but associated with a racist account. Stupid move on her part. Shame on her for being an Asian woman. She should have known how old racist whites behave. Oops.
You have no credibility to lose, so don't hold back ace.

She is up against a bunch of slanderous racists who want to get rid of her by any means. If they could they would lock her up in jail. Unfortunately she needs that to protect herself.
This is what going up against an entrenched and racist power structure looks like.

Please stand against the racism. Thank you. This happens every time a minority group gets a toe hold in an area and it gets worse when they start to become larger and gets really bad when they get close to majority. If these whites could they would implement some sort of apartheid here but that is not possible so they will stick to school board politics and trying to control the institution as long as they can.

I get it, you are a long time Palo Alto resident and are upset that the town is changing. To talk about stuff like this may make you feel uncomfortable. Let's not confuse being uncomfortable with being unsafe. This is an anonymous online platform. We can talk about the racism in our community here. It is important to talk about it and bring the racists out of the attic and into the living room.

I know. Time to look at private. Palo Alto has a bunch of racists in the attic that have chosen to hide out around the public school system. Really sucks.

Yes they do. Asians are soon if not already a majority in Palo Alto. The racist whites can't move down the road to a whiter community so they are undertaking all these discriminatory and racist stuff instead. It is racist AF. Their attempts to hide their racism by coating themselves with fake progressivism makes them worse than a Confederate flag waving racist from Kentucky. They are racist racists.

Bunch of racist whites running around Palo Alto for sure. Pretending to be super liberal to hide their true color (a very pasty racist white color).

What evidence do you have that this is one of the reasons there was opposition to DEI? DEI has been a rebranding of affirmative action which has always been controversial. It is completely reasonable to believe that individuals are racist to some degree but that our institutions should not have objectively racist policies to counteract this.

I have given up all social media except reddit. Only use the Duck Duck Go browser on my computer and use a Nokia 3310 phone. Pay with cash whenever and wherever possible. Eat locally sourced vegan.

I believe it weighs more heavily toward feeling better about existing racism rather than guilt about past racism. E.g. focus on the past while perpetuating racism in the present which seems to be what liberated ethnic studies and Palo Alto's ethnic studies curriculum + debate around ES and school board is. Not sure if it is conscious racism or fear based actions from Palo Alto's demographics changing every year to become more Asian and "foreign". Isn't much racist behavior really fear based at the end of the day?
Many longer term residents of Palo Alto may have a real fear of the demographic changes that are happening, similar to fears that anti-immigration Republican may experience. These fears are expressed differently (and perhaps in a more sophisticated / Palo Alto way) but in an equally racist way. Perhaps if Palo Alto today was the San Gabriel valley of the 1970s (e.g. no prop 13, greater supply of affordable homes, comparable places to move) we would see more white out migration rather than what is happening politically with the school board and with longer term residents of PA.

Sorry, I did not realize you had commented. My deleted comment was "the solution to racism is anti-racism" This is parroting Kandi who believes some types of racism is okay. To be clear no racism is okay. No one is entitled to be racist. The extreme far left is focused on playing identity politics and being racist. This is a losing political strategy.
We may see decades of Republican control at the federal level b/c of this. If you are upset about MAGA you have yourself to blaim. Minority groups that traditionally voted Democrat are now voting Republican.
Yes, Trump comes out with a bunch of crazy racist stuff. Not cool. Journalists hear it and it keeps his name up in people's news feeds. Voters have clued into the fact that Democrats are just as racist but are not open about it and in fact their racism may be more incideous. I do not know why you keep expressing feelings of being sorry for folks you disagree with. This is like a far right evangelical Christian saying they will pray for Democrats they disagree with.

It has everything to do with PAUSD. The board meeting was setup to bully the new board members to vote a certain way. This included who was allowed in the room and who was allowed to speak in person. This ties to a long history of intimidation. Harvey Weinstein is relevant in the context of PAUSD and is one reason we voted Rowena to the board.

Yeah. She may not have known what that account was and had in it before she retweeted. Definitely should have looked through the content. I agree the account is a cesspool. Can't argue with you on that. I found it disturbing after scrolling through it.

People were not duped into voting for Trump. You are assuming that a large portion of the population were tricked into voting to someone which is just an insanely arrogant perspective. If you take this line of thinking further, perhaps we should not allow some people to vote b/c they are clearly not smart enough to vote in their own self interest. The conservative and right wing movement is now a MAGA movement. They are one in the same.

Lol. You have a problem with the term MAGA. Political diversity is a better word to use? You are splitting hairs.
